Template v1.30, Report v1.1

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

VMware vSphere Replication, VMwares proprietary replication engine, provides

data protection and disaster recovery for virtual machines. vSphere Replication
creates a secondary offline copy of a virtual machine within the same site or across
sites. If something happens to the original source VM, vSphere Replication can be
utilized to quickly recover the VM from the secondary target copy. Virtual machines
can be replicated between varying types of storage eliminating the need to have the
same storage configuration at the source and target sites. vSphere Replication can
be used as a standalone solution or with VMware vCenter Site Recovery Manager
to enable automated disaster recovery and data center migrations.

vSphere Replication Features

Network Efficient Replication Flexible RPO Policies
Only changed blocks are replicated Recovery point objective (RPO)

Key Benefits
Availability and Performance Protect important workloads from downtime
and enable fast virtual machine recovery times while minimizing impact to
network and compute resources.
Ease of Use Integration with vCenter Server, management through the
vSphere Web Client, and simple right-click configuration minimizes time and cost
investment.
Scale and Flexibility Protect just a few or hundreds of virtual machines within
the same location and across sites to address a wide variety of availability
requirements.

Results
Recommended Minimum Megabits per second (Mbps) Throughput is the
recommended amount of network throughput available at any time for replication.
Lower amounts of network throughput will likely lead to recovery point objective (RPO)
violations in vSphere Replication. Please note this is a general recommendation.
Actual results will vary considering network throughput fluctuations, differing levels of
host and storage performance, data change rate patterns, and other environmental
conditions.

Recommended Minimum Megabits per second (Mbps) Throughput: 28 Mbps
