NOTES
traditional worship
Do you recall one of the questions Moses asked God at
the burning bush? Loosely put, If the Israelites ask
me, what is the name of the God who sent you, what
should I say? In Scripture much was associated with
a name. A name reflected the character or meaning
of that person. In Gods case, authority and power
were associated with His name. In fact, Gods Name
was so holy, the priest would not say it aloud. The
fact that Moses came as a result of the NAME, I AM,
sending him on the mission to lead the Israelites out of
captivity, gave credence to his call before the people.
In fact, God was given several names throughout the
Bible. In verse one of our opening hymn, we praise God
as the Lord of heaven and earth and all that is. Verse
two tells of the heavenly beings praising God. Verse
three tells of the people from earth who have died and
who are now in heaven praising God as the Church on
earth and the Church in heaven are united in worship.
Finally, verse four names the Three in One God as the
one before whom we bend the knee in worship. Three
of the four verses refer to praising the name of the
Lord. As you sing, be mindful that you are not simply
singing words, but offering praise to the name that
is above every name, that at the name of Jesus, every
knee will bow and every tongue confess, Jesus is
Lord to the glory of God the Father. Our offertory and
closing hymn, both sing of the Name above all names.

Hurricane Harvey Relief

As we continue to see and hear about the events following
Hurricane Harvey, our hearts are with the people of Texas.
Many of you have asked how you can help and how we will be
responding as a church, and our Faithserves mission team has
these suggestions:
GIVE MONEY
We are giving to an EPC Disaster Relief Fund specifically for
those affected by Hurricane Harvey. We encourage you to do
the same at epc.org/emergencyrelief or make check payable
to Evangelical Presbyterian Church and designated Hurricane
Harvey Relief and send to:
Evangelical Presbyterian Church
5850 T.G. Lee Blvd., Suite 510
Orlando, FL 32822

In collaboration with the Presbytery of the Gulf South, donations

to the fund will be sent to EPC churches in the greater Houston
area affected by the storm.
DONATE BLOOD
The blood donation centers in and around Houston are not
able to collect blood due to flooding and power outages. Local
blood center OneBlood in Orlando is currently taking donations
to send to Texas, and asking for any eligible donors to donate,
especially O positive and O negative blood types.

TAKE TIME TO PRAY

Do not let the floodwaters engulf me
or the depths swallow me up
or the pit close its mouth over me.
Answer me, Lord, out of the goodness of your love;
in your great mercy turn to me.
Psalm 69:15-16

Please continue to pray specifically for needs you see on the

news, in your newsfeed and hear from friends. Prayer is our first
step, every time.
