Formative Assessment

Group project module 7

Formative Assessment
Formative Assessments are evaluations teachers conduct during the learning process.
The outcome of this evaluations is then used to adjust teaching and learning
strategies. The result is that students get better results in attaining the learning goals,
because they are constantly monitored so if something goes wrong the teacher can
take action in a timely matter.

Google forms

A quiz created in Google forms. The individual results are

stored in a Google sheet. This gives the teacher an overview
of topics that the student has mastered or still needs help
with. The teacher also has the option to mail the students
their results and feedback. With some plugins you can also
autograde and create personalized feedback.

How will we know it works
It is important to adapt the assessment to the learning
goals; to embed the assessment in the lesson. After the
assessment the teacher will look at the results. These
results gives the teacher the information she needs on
students performance.

If the assessment is not connected to the learning goals the

teachers get a wrong impression.

She knows the students, the way they behave in class and
what to expect from them.
How will we know it works
After the assessment the teacher will look at the results.
These results give the teacher the information she needs on
students performance. With this information she can now
evaluate.

What is the reason of the results Was it too difficult, were

the students engaged

What can I do to change the results? (Adjust the lesson, the

teaching strategy
How will we know it works
Since the teacher has made adjustment the students might be
more engaged or have better understanding of the matter
which will have a better result as the outcome.
