15. ACCEPTED AND DENIED TABLE

For setting of allowed numbers,

Dial
+ 241 X Y ZZZ.... Flash

and for denied numbers

Dial
+ 242 X Y ZZZ.... Flash
where X = level (0 to 9)
Y = location of the number (0 to 9) in this level
ZZZ.. = number (max. 14 digits)

For allocating a particular level to any extn,

Dial
+ 243 XX YZ
Where XX = Extn. number
Y = Day level
Z = Night level

To wash the complete table, and extn. level setting,

Dial
+ 244

Example 1:- Extn. 202 is to be allowed all STD numbers

of Mumbai and only one particular number 079 4301201
of Ahmedabad and no other STD / ISD numbers then
programme 022 in level 0 / location 0, 0794301201 in
level 0 / location 1 of allowed table and 0 in level 0 /
location 0 of denied table.
Dial

+ 241 0 0 022 Flash (This shall allow all numbers

exceeding 022)
+ 241 0 1 0794301201 Flash (This shall allow all numbers
matching or exceeding
0794301201)

14 S. N. Electrotalk Industries
Crystal Programmers Guide

+ 242 0 0 0 Flash (This shall deny all numbers

starting from 0 except those
in the allowed group)
+ 243 202 00 (To allot level 0 to extn. 202, both
in day/night mode)

Now when 202 dials 0222342012, then the number is

allowed as 022 matches with the allowed number. But if
he dials 0212342012 then this number shall not match with
any number in the allowed group. Now the system shall
check in the denied group, where the first digit 0 matches
with 0 of the denied list and hence dialing will be denied.

Example 2 : - Extn. 204 is to be allowed all local numbers,

except mobile numbers starting with 98, trunk booking by
180, and those starting with 95 except 95012042, then

Dial
+ 241 1 0 95012042 Flash (To allow this number)
+ 242 1 0 98 Flash (To deny all numbers matching
or exceeding 98)
+ 242 1 1 180 Flash (To deny all numbers matching
or exceeding 180)
+ 242 1 2 95 Flash (To deny all numbers matching
or exceeding 95)
+ 243 204 11 (To allot level 1 to extn. 204)

Example 3 : - For 95 lock

+ 242 8 0 95 Flash (To deny all numbers matching

or exceeding 95)
+ 243 Extn No. 88 (To allot level 8 to that extn.)

16. HOTEL PROGRAMMING

16.1Guest / Service group programming
This facility is basically specific for hotels only. It helps to
classify each extension under service group or guest group.
Broadly there can be following three types of groups:
1) Individual guest group ('0' group) :
This is the group of individual guests who only need to
call service group extensions. They cannot call any
other room number.
2) Guest group ('1' to '8' group) :
This is for a group of more than one guests and occupying
more than one rooms. These guests can call service
group extensions and other extensions of the same
group
3) Service group ('9' group) :
This group of extensions includes operator/hotel staff
and management. Any extension can call this group
and this group can call any other extension.

To assign group to an extension,

Dial
+ 38 - Extn. number - Group number
16.2 Floor service destination
You can set a room service extn. seperately for each floor.
Access code for room service for all floors shall be same
(default 38), but the ring shall go to corresponding room
service extn. depending on the callers floor.
For example :
If the room 210 on second floor calls for room service, ring
should go to the room service extension on second floor.
Similarly, if room 415 on fourth floor calls for room service,
ring should go to room service extension on fourth floor.
This helps the hotel management staff to address to guest's
call in more efficient and quicker manner. This feature is
also known as floor service.

16 S. N. Electrotalk Industries
Crystal Programmers Guide

In this,
Each extn. is assigned a floor group.
Each group of floors is assigned a service extension and
Room / floor service access code is defined.

To assign floor to an extension,

Dial
+ 305 - Extn. number - Floor number

To assign a service extn. to a floor,

Dial
+ 2042 - Floor number - Extn. number
In default floor service extn. for all floors is 22/202.

To assign room/floor service code,

Dial
+ 2041 - XX #
Where XX is any two digit number from 30 to 38.
Default floor service code is 38.
For Example : Consider a hotel with nine rooms spread
over three floors with three rooms on each floor. Room
numbers 202, 203, 204, 206, 207 and 208 are used for
individual guests (group 0) whereas room numbers 210,
211 and 212 are for guest group (1 to 8 group).
The service extn. number for each floor is as shown.

17. PICK UP GROUP

Ten call pick up groups (from 0 to 9) can be prgrammed. To
set an extn in any group,
Dial
+ 301 + Extn. number + Group number
Example : To set extn. 26, 28 & 29 in group 5,
Dial
+ 301 26 5
301 28 5
301 29 5
Now, if there is a ring on 26, extn. 28 or 29 can pick up the
call on 26, simply by dialing "4".
In default, all extns are placed in group '0'.

18. BUSY HUNTING GROUP

It may be desirable that when a particular extn. is busy, the
next programmed extn., should ring instead of giving busy
tone to the caller. Nine different groups of such extensions
can be formed. To set extn. in any group,
Dial
+ 304 + Extn. number + Group number
Example : To set 21, 22, 24 in one group so that if any one
dials 21 and 21/22 is busy then 24 shall ring,
Dial
304 21 1
304 22 1
304 24 1
In default, no busy group is defined.
NOTE :
This feature is valid for intercom to intercom call only and
not for round-robin call.
S. N. Electrotalk Industries 19
Crystal Programmers Guide

19. CALL PRIVACY

Call privacy from three types of calls is possible
X = Barge-in / Interrupt
Y = Incoming trunk call beeps
Z = D.I.D. calls
To set privacy for any of above,
Dial
+ 303 Extn. number XYZ
Where X = 1 for Privacy ON
2 for Privacy OFF
Y = 1 for Privacy ON
2 for Privacy OFF
Z = 1 for Privacy ON
2 for Privacy OFF
Example :To set call privacy from barge-in/interrupt on extn. 23,
Dial
+ 303 23 122
During incoming round-robin call, if any extn. in the
round-robin group is busy he will get incoming call beeps.
If you want that the busy extn. should not get beeps but
that the call should directly jump the busy extn, say 22 (i.e.call
privacy from incoming trunk call beeps) then
Dial
+ 303 22 212
If you do not want beeps on any extn., then programme all
extn. in the round-robin group as 212.
In default, all three privacies are OFF for all extns.

20 S. N. Electrotalk Industries
Crystal Programmers Guide

20. REVERSAL / TIME OUT

For call maturity detection, following options are possible
1 = Time Out (Default)
2 = CPD + Time Out
3 = Only CPD
4 = Reversal
Sometimes small or medium range EPABX systems may
be used behind bigger private EPABX'S to expand their
existing capacity. Extns coming from the bigger EPABX shall
act as trunks for the smaller EPABX extns.
Now, if any extn connected to smaller EPABX is to be
allowed local dialing through bigger system, it shall have
to be given STD dialing facility. In this case, these extns
may misuse this facility if any P&T line is connected directly
to smaller system. This problem may be solved by setting
a tie-line digit count for each junction line. This count is the
number of digits to be ignored before class - of - service
check is begun.

To set maturity and tie-line digit count,

Dial
+ 42 - Jn. No. - X - Y
Where Jn no. = 1 for 61, 2 for 62.......
X = Maturity code (1-4)
Y = Tie - line digit count (0-9)
(If you are not using the Jn. as
tie-line, then keep Y as 0)

If you are having the reversal facility from P&T, keep the
junction on reversal mode i.e mode 4
With the ACPD logic, the EPABX has the capability to
detect ring back tone / dial tone etc. For call maturity based
on ACPD logic, the system first senses the ring back tone.
As soon as the ring back tone stops, it assumes the call to
be answered & starts the call counter. For call maturity
based only on ACPD, programme junction on mode 3.
However, sometimes if the P&T line is very noisy or if there
is a lot of background noise at the caller's end, or if the
S. N. Electrotalk Industries 21
Crystal Programmers Guide

caller answers the call on the 1st ring itself (the system
does not get time to detect ring back tone) then ACPD
maturity might fail.
If you are very particular not to miss any call then keep the
junction on mode 2. In this case even if the ACPD maturity
fails, after 40 seconds the system shall assume the call to
be mature and shall start the call timer. Calls which have
matured on CPD logic shall be printed with remark 'C' in
the print out, and calls matured on time out basis shall be
blank in the remark column. Mode 2 is the best suggested
mode. The time out delay is programmable from 01 to 99 sec.
To set this value,
Dial
+ 213 XX
Where XX is time from 01 to 99 sec.
If the ring back tone from your P&T exchange is not of
standard frequency then you shall have to keep the junction
on time out mode only - ie. mode 1.
In this mode all calls will be registered.
In default, the value of time out delay is 40 seconds.

Where X (Day mode) = 1 for Round-robin
2 for Delayed simultaneous
3 for Immediate simultaneous
Y (Night mode) = 1 for Round-robin
2 for Delayed simultaneous
3 for Immediate simultaneous
In default, all junctions are in round - robin i.e. '11' mode.

22. GLOBAL NUMBER

To set global numbers,
Dial
+ 88 + location code (10 to 99) + Jn No. + External No. + #
NOTE :
You can programme a maximum of 16 digit number. If the
number is less than 16 digits, dial # or H/F, to store the
number and get acceptance tone.
If default, no external number is set as global number.

40.5 To set service charges for local / STD calls

For certain applications, like in hotels, the management may
like to add service charge for each local or STD call made
by the guest. These service charges are programmable.
These service charges will be added to the cost of the call
calculated using pulse rate and duration.
Hence, Total cost of call
= (call unit charge X no. of units)+(STD service charge)
Example:
Assume for any STD Call
Time slab : Full rate
Call : 12 seconds
Pulse : 2.0/4.0/6.0/8.0
STD service charge : 2.00
Unit charge : Rs. 1.50
So,
Call unit = (No of seconds / Pulse rate) + 1
= (12/2) + 1
= 7 Units
Total cost = (1.50X7)+2.00
= Rs. 12.50

A) To set service charge for local call

To add service charge for local calls,

Dial
+ 26 12 RR PP
Where RR = Rupee
PP = Paise
In default, no service charge is added.

B) To set service charge for STD / ISD call

To add service charge for STD/ISD calls,
Dial
+ 26 13 RR PP
Where RR = Rupee
PP = Paise
In default, no service charge is added.

40.6 Single / Multiple service charges for local calls

In certain applications like in office , the service charge is
added only once for a local call. This does not depend on
the duration of the call. Whereas in hotel / motel applications,
if the local call duration is more than programmed timer, it
may be considered as a fresh call and multiple service
charges are added.
For single service charge,
Dial
+ 2662 -2
While for multiple service charge,
Dial
+ 2662 - 1
For Example : For a local call pulse rate of 180 sec. with
unit charge of Rs.1.50 per call and local call service
charge of Rs.5.00, if a call is made for 340 seconds the
cost of call in case of single service charge is Rs 8.00
while the cost of call in case of multiple service charge
is Rs.13.00.
In default, the service charge is single .

S. N. Electrotalk Industries 41

40.7 Percentage based service charge for STD calls

Sometimes the hotel STD service charge is based on
the percentage of total call cost.
To activate percentage based service charge,
Dial
+ 2666-1
and to deactivate the percentage based service charge,
Dial
+ 2666 - 2
To set the service charge percentage,
Dial
+ 2614 -PP
Where PP = Percentage charge on total call cost.
In default, 0 % service charge is set.
For example : Suppose the service charge percentage is
set at 5% of the total bill amount. Now, if the amount comes
to Rs.100, then the total bill would be Rs. 105.

40.8 Unit increment at the end of STD Call :

The hotel owner may sometimes desire to increase
the number of units by one at the end of STD call. This
is known as " Jumping". To enable jumping,
Dial
+ 2667-1
and to prevent / disable jumping,
Dial
+ 2667-2
For Example : Assume call duration is 120 sec. with
12 sec/unit rate, in standard normal method,
number of units = (120/12) + 1 = 11
but after jumping, number of units = 11+1 = 12
In default, the unit increment for STD call is OFF.

40.14 STD/ISD code table

The STD/ISD code table contains the list of STD/ISD codes
with proper pulse rate code. Each STD/ISD code has its
corresponding pulse rate code given against it for
calculating cost of any call. The system shall first search
for the best fitting STD/ISD code and then gets pulse rates
from the pulse rate code given against it.
Crystal EPABX allows one to programme maximum of
500 STD/ISD codes. The capacity is sufficient as it is possible
to compress many STD/ISD codes in ascending order with
their applicable pulse rate codes written against them.
Steps for preparing STD/ISD code table
1) Selection of STD/ISD codes having first 2,3 or 4 common
digits and same pulse rates.
2) Selection of this group of STD/ISD codes and
finding the minimum common digits.

S. N. Electrotalk Industries 45
Crystal Programmers Guide

3) Programming of this compressed common code with

common pulse rate code.
4) Repeat above steps to find other STD/ISD code
groups.
5) The remaining STD/ISD codes have to be entered
individually.
6) STD codes which shall fall in pulse rate code 08, need
not be programmed as they shall be automatically
taken in default.
To feed in the pulse rate code for a STD code,
