General Directions

Included in this workbook are spreadsheets used to develop a maste

Master Production Schedule

The master production schedule (MPS) states exactly what, for a given item, will be produc
period for a given end item. Enter the beginning inventory, forecasted demand, customer o
each time period, and master schedule amounts as stated in the problem. The formulas bu
projected on-hand inventory and amount available to promise to customers.

Materials Requirements Planning - Lot-for-Lot Ordering

Materials requirement planning (MRP) is a technique used to schedule needs for parts and
materials required to make a product over a predetermined planning horizon. MRP uses info
from the master production schedule (MPS), the bill of materials, lead times, and projected en
inventory from the previous time period. In this example, you will be ordering the exact lot s
as lot-for-lot). Enter the lead time, gross requirements, schedule receipts,
and initial inventory level (projected ending inventory, Week 0). The formulas built into this s
will calculate the projected ending inventory, net requirements, planned receipts, and planne
for the planning horizon.
