CHAPTER ONE

INTRODUCTION

1.1 STUDENT INDUSTRIAL WORK EXPERIENCE SCHEME (SIWES)

BACKGROUND

Student industrial work experience scheme background In the earlier stage of

science and technology education in Nigeria, students were graduating from their

respective institutions without any technical knowledge or working experience. It

in this view that students undergoing science and technology related courses in

institution were mandated to undergo SIWES, in view of widening their experience

so as to enable them have technical knowledge or working experience before

graduating from their various institutions.

The student industrial work experience scheme (SIWES) was established by the

Industrial Training Fund (ITF) to enable students to tertiary institution and have

technical knowledge of industrial work base on their course of study before the

completion of the program in their respective institutions. The scheme was

designed to expose students to industrial environment and enable them develop,

occupational competences so that they can readily contribute their quota to national

economic and technological development after graduation. the major benefit

accruing students who participate conscientiously in student industrial training

experience scheme(SIWS) are the skill and their competencies they acquired.
1.2 OBJECTIVES
The industrial Training Fund Policy state the following:

1. To provide an avenue for student in higher institutions of learning to


acquire Industrial skill and experiment during their course of study
2. To prepare students for industrial work situations that they are likely to
meet up after graduation
3. To also expose student to methods and techniques in handing equipment
and machinery that may not be available in their institutions.
4. To make the transition from school to the world of work easier and enhance
students contacts for later job placement.

2.2 BASE MAP

The term base map is refers to a collection of orthorectified imagery that form the

background setting for a map. The function of the base map is to provide

background detail necessary to orient the location of a map. Base maps also add to

the aesthetic appeal of a map.

2.2ROAD NETWORK

The road network consist of a system of interconnected roads which are designed

to carry buses, cars and goods vehicles; the road network generally forms the most

basic level of transport infrastructure within urban areas, and will link with all

other areas, both within and beyond the boundaries of the urban area.

The road network can be divided into parts such as:

Intersection

Roundabout

Motor ways

Footpaths and pedestrian areas

Bridges, tunnels
CHAPTER THREE

3.1. AGENCY/ MANAGEMENT

Agency (sales and letting)

Agency is a company or business that sells and rents out buildings and land for

clients.

SALES: this is the act of selling landed property, transferring of ownership for a

life time.

LETING: This is the leashing of property to a tenant for a longer or shorter period.

The agent help the tenant to acquire his home for a specific period of time and the

tenant is meant to pay a wages for the property in use.

MANAGEMENT

It can be defined as the administration of residential, commercial and/ or industrial

real estate property management typically involves the managing of property that

is owned by another party or entity.

The proper manager acts on behalf of the owner to preserve the value of the

property while generating incom

3.2 TENANCY AGREEMENT

A tenancy agreement is a contract between a landlord and a tenant. It records all

the key things a landlord and a tenant have agreed to about the tenancy.

3.3 MINIMUM CONTENTS OF A TENANCY AGREEMENT

i. The full names and contact addresses of the landlord and tenant

ii. The address of the property thats being rented.

iii. The date the tenancy agreement is signed.


iv. The date the tenancy is to begin.

3.4 WRITING OF TENANCY RENEWAL

This is a periodic payment of a tenant occupying any apartment of a given property

4.1 LOCATIONAL SKETCH

Locational sketch is a typically a sample map used in cartography to show the


location of a particular geographic area within its larger and presumably more
familiar context.

4.2 EXPERIENCE GAINED

I was majorly exposed to how to inspect buildings, sketching of properties location


documentation of tenancy agreement, renewal and taking client for inspection

4.3 CHALLENGED FACED

Many challenges were faced but I thanks Almighty ALLAH for the success of the
program through my stay at the company

The programme has enlightened me more on my course of study.

5.2 RECOMMENDATION

The siwes programme enlightened student more on the course of study and

prepared them on what to do and how to do it in future so as to gain more business
