Peace Corps Response positions are open to returned Volunteers or U.S. citizens with
significant professional and technical experience.

Project Description
Two Peace Corps Response Volunteers are needed to serve at a public university in Liberia,
one as a Math Professor and the other as a Math Teacher Trainer Both positions require a
Masters degree in mathematics and require at least two years of teaching experience at the
university level. The university provides tertiary education and is involved in community
engagement and enhancing development. The college is challenged with hiring math teachers
who are qualified enough to teach higher math courses at the university. The Response
Volunteers will serve as members of the teaching faculty and will be required to prepare and
present lesson plans intended to increase students success in math.

The math Teacher Trainer will train students who will teach mathematics at the primary and
secondary levels in Liberia and the Math Professor will teach Advanced Calculus, Linear
Algebra, and Abstract Algebra and Topology. Both Response Volunteers will be expected to
increase student performance by tailoring lessons to their needs and level based on minimum
assessment. They will supervise students research activities and support an effective learning
environment and improving students teaching skills. At the end of the assignment, they will
also submit a detailed report outlining their successes, challenges, and recommendations.
