Burnet Hill Elementary

Advisory Team Meeting: February 2, 2017

Storia Subscription
Homerooms were given subscriptions for their classes.
Codes for special education was requested.
Resource teachers - ask Rachel to set up the account.

Bobcat Award
Bobcat Worthy definition: having or showing the qualities that merit recognition
of outstanding, admirable behavior in ALL special classes.
Specialists are unable to unanimously determine Bobcat winners
o If there are no Bobcat Worthy classes in a particular month, the
Bobcat will not be given out that month.
o If there is a tie, then each class will keep the Bobcat for 1/2 of the
month.
o One class can win two times if they are Bobcat Worthy.

Staff Parking Lot
Day Absences be sure to write the following your Sub Plans:
o Park in Visitor Parking Spots (65 -69) or on the street.
Problem:
o New subs do not know where to park; therefore, they are parking in
assigned spots.
o If someone parks in your spot, please park on the street. If it continues
for consecutive days, then place a note on the car.
FYI:
o Supervisors are parking in the street.
o Central office is aware of Burnet Hills assigned parking, but continues
to park in the teachers spots.
Parking spots in the front lot:
o Front lot is ONE WAY during morning and after school hours. Be sure
to drive in front of the school and then make a left into the parking lot.
o Front lot is TWO WAY during lunch ONLY.
Sunshine Committee
Teaching Assistants requested a list the Sunshine Committees expenditures
of funds.
Sunshine Committee will post the list of expenditures, which was previously
distributed to the staff during the start of the school year. The list will be
posted in the Faculty Room.

Common Area
Discussed the need for more furniture (chairs/tables).
Some chairs have been take from the Common Area. Please be sure to keep
all furniture in the Common Area.
Suggestion: purchasing dividers so there can be some privacy for teachers,
therapists and teaching assists when using the common area during school
hours. It will be considered.

Health Office Issues
Protocol/Head Lice:
o Teachers are concerned that notes are not going home quick enough.
o Protocol & School Policy found at this link

Protocol/Sick Students:
o Teachers requested a reminder note to be sent home to all Burnet Hill
parents regarding the school policy of keeping children home 24 hours
when they have a fever.
o Students sent home with a fever, CAN NOT return back to school the
next day. If the student returns to school the next day, send the
student to the Health Office immediately. The school nurse will
contact the parents to pick up their child.

Teacher Requests:
o To all Staff - Please include classroom teachers in all emails that are
sent to classroom parents regarding class or school issues.
o Main Office and Nurse - Please notify classroom teachers if students
are in the Health Office after lunch/recess.

Food/Class Parties
o Food allergies in the classroom - class parents must send menu items to
the nurse.
o Nurse must respond to class parents menus in a timely manner 24hrs
upon receiving the email.
o Suggestion for future parties: Students bring their own food for class
parties instead families providing the food. This suggestion is to help
alleviate all food allergy issues in the classroom. (This is just for
discussionprotocols have not changed.)

FYI:
o Nurses lunch: 1:00 1:45
o Emergencies only during these hours send children to office.
