C. While Listening
1. Setting of Standards
I will be playing a song entitled The
Voice Within by Christina Aguilera.
But before that, what would you do if
you are listening to a song?
S1: Take down notes.
S2: Listen attentively.
S3: Do not disturb your classmates.
You are all right. So I want you to do
that while listening to the song for I
will be asking sets of questions later.
Are we clear?
Yes, sir.
2. Listening Proper
I will be now playing the song.
(Teacher plays the song.)
(Students listen.)

D. Post Listening
1. Intellectual Questions
To test if you really understand the
message of the song, I will be asking
you questions regarding it. Are we
clear?
Yes, sir.
Are you familiar with the game
Newspaper Dance?
Yes, sir.
But in my version this game, I am
going to divide the class into 4
groups. What you are going to do is
you will dance as the music plays,
and if it stops, try to put yourself or
fit in yourself through stepping on
the newspaper. Each question is
worth 5 points. So whoever fails to fit
onto the newspaper will be the one
to answer the question. Are we
clear?
Yes, sir.
a. What is the title of the song?
b. Who is the singer singing to?
c. What does the lines when
theres no one else, look inside
yourself. Like your oldest friend,
just trust the voice within
mean?
d. How did the lines then youll
find the strength that will guide
your way moved you? Do you
have any past experiences that
can you relate to these lines, that
you need to be strong in order
for you to survive? Give at least
one.
e. Explain the line you will never
change if you just run away.
f. According to the song, why is it
hard for someone to stand when
he is so afraid? Explain your
answer.
g. What does the lines Life is a
journey it can you anywhere
you choose to go. As long as
youre learning, youll find out
you ever need to know mean?
How can you relate it with your
everyday life as a student, as a
member of your family and as a
person living in your community?
h. Based from all the questions, give
the message of the song.

a. The title of the song is The Voice

Within.
b. The singer is singing to a young girl,
which represents herself.
c. It means that when no ones around. Rely
on yourself because you are the only one
who can help you.
d. Those lines moved me in a way that
sometimes we need to take our strength
in ourselves just like in making the best
out of us. We need to be strong enough
to survive.
e. It means that, nothing will happen if you
will always avoid problems and
challenges.
f. It is hard to stand on your own when
youre so afraid because you will never
know what will happen in the end.
g. Life can take you anywhere, sometimes
you are at the top, sometimes, you are at
the bottom. But still you learn something
from it.
h. Based form all the questions, the
message of the song goes like this: Trust
your own instinct, no matter what people
might say about you, no matter what
criticism or negativity might come your
way, just trust yourself always and just be
who you are.
Good job. You really understand
the song. Go back to your seats.
Did you have fun?
Yes, sir.
2. Aesthetic Questions
We will answer series of questions
again. Philip, give me an odd number
from 1 to 9.
Philip: 9, sir.
The student who will get the number
being given by your classmate will
stand up and answer my question.
Are we clear?
Yes, sir.
a. What did you feel while listening
to the song? Why did you feel
that?
b. What part of the song strikes you
the most? Why?
c. Did you ever experience
something that relates to the
song? How did it affect you?
d. Does the title of the song fit the
song itself? In what manner?
a. I feel determined. Even on tough
challenges, we can still survive if we will
just trust ourselves.
b. The bridge of the song. It tells that life
can take you anywhere you go, and its
up to you if you will survive or surrender.
c. Yes. It feels like you are going down and
no one can help except yourself.
d. Yes, it talks about your inner self as it was
stated in the lyrics of the song.
Good job.
E. Application
For our next activity, I will regroup the
class into 3 groups. Count off.

role play that relates to a song . I am
going to give you 2 minutes to discuss it
with your group. Are we clear?

You will be graded according to the
criteria given:

Relevance 2 points
Creativity 3 points

Time is up. Present your work.

(Each group present their task.)
F. Generalization
What have you learned from our lesson?
Sir, I learned that we need to trust our own
instinct, no matter what people might say about
