UNIT 3, OUTCOME 2 Checklist

HAVE I READ THROUGH THE ASSESSMENT CRITERIA?

You need to read through the VCAA assessment criteria well


before you submit your folio, to ensure that you have
completed all required work.

Please read through the assessment criteria (and this


PowerPoint) and use it as a checklist before your submission.
ASSESSMENT CRITERIA 1:

Criteria:
Interpretation of and response to sources of inspiration to
explore and develop ideas, techniques and processes
throughout the studio process.

To receive a Very High (9-10):


Highly informative, detailed and carefully documented
investigation of sources of inspiration and very clear
documentation of personal imagery and its exploration in a
visual diary. Detailed and relevant citations, comprehensive and
insightful interpretation and response to a wide range of
sources of inspiration that lead to extensive exploration and
development of ideas, techniques and processes throughout the
studio process.
ASSESSMENT CRITERIA 1 EXPLAINED:

Have you ef fectively incorporated research into your folio?

Have you included research that relates to:


- your concept
- the techniques you trialed in your folio
- the processes you used (relating to materials/techniques)

Have you followed your work plan and completed all research you
said you would?

Are your annotations relating to your research detailed and


informative?

Do those annotations explain how the research relates to your


concept, and how it has assisted you in your studio process?
ASSESSMENT CRITERIA 2:

Criteria:
Development of individual and personal subject matter, conceptual
possibilities and aesthetic qualities in the studio process as
discussed in the exploration proposal.

To receive a Ver y High (9-10):


Highly creative and insightful approaches in the sequential
development of a range of aesthetic and conceptual ideas and
subject matter comprehensively documented in a visual diar y.
Comprehensive and thoughtful exploration that progressively
develops individual and personal ideas and subject matter. The
studio process comprehensively demonstrates the progressive
development of personal imager y as described in the exploration
proposal. Progressive development of aesthetic and conceptual
ideas that have a ver y strong relationship to the exploration
proposal.
ASSESSMENT CRITERIA 2 EXPLAINED:

Do your explorations of subject matter, conceptual


possibilities (trials) and aesthetic qualities match what you
said you would investigate in your exploration proposal?

Do your trials show progression in your concept and


development. E.g. Have you continued to develop and refine
your ideas. Does the aesthetic of your trials show progression?

Have you discussed the effectiveness of your trials in your


annotations, and have you mentioned areas of improvement?

Have you then acted on those suggested areas of improvement


and further developed your trials?
ASSESSMENT CRITERIA 3:

Criteria:
Exploration of ar t elements and ar t principles, materials and
techniques to communicate individual ideas and demonstrate
aesthetic qualities.

To receive a Ver y High (9-10):


Consistently creative exploration and development of the use of
materials, techniques and aesthetic qualities relevant to the
individual ideas is demonstrated in an extensive investigation
throughout the studio process. Comprehensive and ef fective use of
visual language and written documentation that demonstrates how
a range of art elements and art principles communicate the
aesthetic qualities related to ideas and subject matter.
Demonstration of consistent, progressive development and of a
ver y high level of skill in the use of materials and techniques,
showing sensitivity to and awareness and understanding of
particular aesthetic qualities and characteristics of materials.
ASSESSMENT CRITERIA 3 EXPLAINED:

Have you explored the art elements, principles and aesthetic


qualities that you discussed in your Exploration Proposal?
Have you written about the elements, principles and aesthetic
qualities in your annotations?
Have you underlined the elements, principles and aesthetic
qualities in your annotations to clearly show that you have
discussed them?
Have you incorporated a range of materials and techniques in
your trials?
Have you trialed the materials and techniques that you
discussed in your Exploration Proposal?
Do your trials clearly represent and relate to your concept?
Are your trials of a high standard and demonstrate your
technical ability?
ASSESSMENT CRITERIA 4:

Criteria:
Documentation of explorator y and developmental work, including
the clarification of ideas through the development, identification
and evaluation of potential directions.

To receive a Ver y High (9-10):


Comprehensively and highly informative annotations document the
identification, analysis and evaluation of the use of aesthetic
qualities and techniques throughout the studio process, and to
clarify individual ideas, through detailed annotation, in a visual
diar y. Comprehensive development and ver y clear identification of
a range of potential directions that provide substantial written and
visual material on which future artworks will be developed and
refined. Potential directions are evaluated both visually and in
writing, demonstrating ef fective, creative and innovative
approaches in the communication of concepts and ideas expressed
in the exploration proposal.
ASSESSMENT CRITERIA 4 EXPLAINED:

Have you included a range of Potential Directions in your


folio?

Have you clearly labeled them as Potential Direction #1, #2


#3 etc?

Have you included Potential Direction write-ups?

In your Potential Direction write-ups, have you discussed:


- How you created your Potential Direction (materials/
techniques/process)
- How it relates to your concept
- Why it is a Potential Direction
- How youre going to develop/refine it if it becomes the basis
of one of your final artworks.
GENERAL ADVICE / CHECKLIST

Have I stuck ever ything into my folio?


Have I included research, trials and annotations throughout my folio?
Have I followed my work plan, and have I filled in the amendments/
recommendations column?
Have I labeled ef fective trials as Potential Directions?
Have I completed my Potential Direction write-ups?
Do I have at least 5 Potential Directions?
Have I annotated ever ything in my folio?
Have I read through the Annotation page on our Weebly to check that
Ive covered ever ything in my annotations?
Have I discussed Elements/Principles/Aesthetic Qualities in my
annotations at least once on ever y page?
Have I underlined the Elements/Principles/Aesthetic Qualities in my
annotations?
Have I included URLs for any images/information that is not my own in
my folio.
