SCHOOL NEWS
PASTORS MESSAGE

Dear School Parents:

I NEED YOUR HELP! With the school year winding down so are many of the volunteer commitments that have
been made. One volunteer opportunity which is nearing the end of its scheduled volunteers is our workers for
Bingo on Friday evenings. Bingo continues even though school is out for the summer.
Bingo is essential to the financial stability of our school. During this current school year (2016-17) bingo raised
nearly $100,000 that went directly into the school budget.
What you may not be aware of is that California law requires that everyone who is associated with the bingo
program must be volunteers. We are not able to compensate anyone either directly (pay) or indirectly (tuition
assistance). Therefore, we rely on our school families to assist us as volunteers for this important part of our
revenue stream.
The bingo program is in need of the following assistance immediately:
Floor workers to distribute and collect bingo cards and pull tab games;
Three bingo callers willing to commit to one Friday evening a month for the next year.
Three administrative assistants who are willing to learn how to administer the bingo program.
The current schedule of volunteers for the bingo program runs out on June 24, 2017. We need assistance
starting immediately.
Please contact the school office to volunteer. Also, remember that during the 2017-18 school year each family
is required to complete 32 hours of volunteer service. Hours served at bingo over the summer months can be
counted toward this commitment.

Sincerely in Christ,
Rev. Edward P. McNulty, Pastor

PRAYERS: We continue to keep in prayer all our families and extended families who are experiencing difficult
times. We also give thanks in prayer for all our many blessings.

MASS: We welcome you to join us for our last school Mass of the year Friday, June 9th starting at 8:15 am.
Please remember students need to be in formal dress uniform.

8TH GRADE: This is a very busy time in the lives of our St. Columba 8th graders. This week theyve enjoyed a fun
day at Disneyland, and had a very special 8th grade ribbon ceremony. They will finish off their special activities
with the Dinner/Dance, June 1st, Yearbook signing & Volleyball game, June 2nd, and Graduation, June 3rd. We
send them off wishing each student happy, successful high school years and an abundance of Gods
blessings.

5TH GRADE: Congratulations to the 5th graders who received a special recognition and thank you from the
San Diego Humane Society. The students made no-sew pet beds as their Lenten outreach project. The
donation was greatly appreciated!

MINIMUM DAYS: Mark your calendar! Monday, June 12th, Tuesday, June 13th, and Wednesday, June 14th are
all minimum days. Extended care is available June 12th & June 13th from 12:00 until 6:00 pm. Please note:
Wednesday, June 14th extended care is NOT available. All students need to be picked up at 12:00.

SCHOOL RE-REGISTRATION: For all those families who havent registered for the 2017/2018 school year, please
do so promptly. Registration helps us to know class sizes for the upcoming school year and to budget
accordingly. If you have any questions, or concerns, please contact Ms. Navarro.

GIFT CARDS: Thank you to all our families, parishioners and friends who have supported our gift card program
for our school. This program would not be possible without your continued support. Dont forget you can
continue to order gift cards during the summer. If you have any questions, please contact the school office.

VOLUNTEER SERVICE HOURS: Reminder: Make sure all your service hours have been logged into the volunteer
book in the school office. Any service hours not completed will be prorated and billed through FACTS on June
9th. If you have any questions, or concerns, please contact Ms. Navarro.
