Taking

part in this subject has been a challenge. However, it is a challenge that has enabled
me to step outside my comfort zone exploring the different technologies out there. I am not
one who is confident with technology and have felt rather lost throughout the course but
through the materials and forums I have slowly found my way extending my knowledge and
confidence along the way. Before taking part in these courses I thought that I was mediocre
with technology however, I soon learned there was much more to it all.

I think that technology is an important area of the curriculum for the students to undertake
as everything is becoming based around technology and digital devices. Undertaking such
areas of the curriculum will enhance the students understanding on the basic use of
technology and further develop into the how to of technology and digital devices. The
students benefit from learning about and working with traditional, contemporary and
emerging technologies that shape the world in which we live (ACARA, n.d.). As a teacher and
allowing my students to undertake requirements of the technologies curriculum will allow
them to apply their knowledge and practical skills and process when using technology and
other resources which will create innovative solutions, independently and collaboratively,
they will develop knowledge, understanding and the skills to be able to respond creatively
to current and future needs (ACARA, n.d.).

Growing up in a small country town we didnt have much access to technology resources
therefor after participating in this course I have found it more difficult. In primary school
had I have been exposed to technology and how to use technology in particular the
different programs of a computer I may have found this task easier. Being 22 and feeling
this way I would like to give my future students an understanding of how technology works
and the different aspects and programs that can be implemented and played with.

Allowing my future students to learn within the technologies curriculum will allow them to
engage in critical and creative thinking, including understanding interrelationships in
systems when solving a complex problem (ACARA, n.d.). Learning about the different
programs within a computer is such an important understanding to obtain as digital
technology is the way of the future.
