CARNAVAL CAJAMARQUINO

El carnaval de Cajamarca se celebra todos los aos de febrero a abril.

Fiesta en la cual participa todo el pueblo. Cada barrio organiza un
grupo conformado por veinte personas, las denominadas patrullas,
que visten ropas llenas de coloridos y mscaras diversas. Las
patrullas recorren toda la ciudad, cantando y bailando al son del tpico
carnaval cajamarquino, dirigidas por un virrey y eventualmente
integradas tambin por clowns y viejos gitanos. Antiguamente
cuando se encontraban dos patrullas de diferentes bandos se
originaban grescas, costumbre ya desaparecida.
Los grupos de personas con un mismo disfraz reciben el nombre
comparsas y se dividen en mixtas, masculinas, femeninas e
infantiles.
Adems de cantos y bailes, la gente se divierte lanzndose
serpentinas, agua y polvo, no faltando quienes se tien la ropa con
betn y anilinas.
Todas las cosas se abren para amigos y extraos, se sirve abundante
comida y licor y no puede faltar el corte de las yunzas o rboles,
generalmente de capul, adornados con frutas y regalos.
En los ltimos aos el carnaval se ha organizado con mayor cuidado y
el apotesico desfile de carros alegricos, eleccin de la reyna de
carnaval y concurso de coplas contribuye a hacer que la fiesta
adquiera mayor importancia ao a ao.
El concurso de coplas, basado en el contrapunto, es en la prctica un
festival de msica tpica cajamarquina con participacin de
representantes de distrito e instituciones. La copla es un cuarteto
rimado de variada temtica: amorosa, pcara, burlesca, poltica, etc.

CORPUS CHRISTI
Es una festividad costumbrista y religiosa de mayor significacin en la
ciudad, se caracteriza por la solemnidad que es
celebrada. En Cajamarca, el Corpus Christi se celebra con una misa
solemne para luego, realizar una procesin alrededor de la Plaza de
Armas que culmina con el ingreso del Santsimo en la Catedral. El
Corpus Christi comienza con la inauguracin de la Feria Artesanal das
antes de la fecha central.
En la vspera del Corpus Christi las personas se renen en la Plaza de
Armas de Cajamarca para elaborar las alfombras multicolores con
aserrn y flores de motivos religiosos y tpicos que marcarn el
sendero donde desfilar la procesin.
La fecha central es el 23 de junio, feriado en Cajamarca, por la
maana se celebra la misa en la Iglesia Catedral de Cajamarca, luego
se inicia la procesin de la sagrada imagen en la Plaza de Armas, los
fieles entonan cnticos acompaados por el sonido de los clarines y
tambores.

en los poblados de Cajamarca, se trata de una celebracin cuyo da
central es el 24 de junio, aunque los eventos por la fiesta pueden
durar poco ms de una semana e iniciar segn el programa de la
regin.

La Fiesta de San Juan Bautista, es una festividad en la que participan

todos los pobladores cajamarquinos. El evento es gestionado por los
municipios de la regin y en conmemoracin a la procesin del Santo,
se realizan previa y posteriormente diferentes actividades, muchas de
ellas concursos y rituales tpicos de este periodo. Entre los concursos
que usualmente se programan para este acontecimiento se
encuentran: Concursos de bandas tpicas de la regin, asimismo se
encuentran tambin recientemente competencias de motocross,
populares certmenes de carreras campesinas, tambin
competencias de caballos de pasos y el reinado campesino.
