Cajamarca Carnival is celebrated every year from February to

Es una festividad costumbrista y religiosa de mayor significacin en la
ciudad, se caracteriza por la solemnidad que es
celebrada. En Cajamarca, el Corpus Christi se celebra con una misa
solemne para luego, realizar una procesin alrededor de la Plaza de
Armas que culmina con el ingreso del Santsimo en la Catedral. El
Corpus Christi comienza con la inauguracin de la Feria Artesanal das
antes de la fecha central.
En la vspera del Corpus Christi las personas se renen en la Plaza de
Armas de Cajamarca para elaborar las alfombras multicolores con
aserrn y flores de motivos religiosos y tpicos que marcarn el
sendero donde desfilar la procesin.
La fecha central es el 23 de junio, feriado en Cajamarca, por la
maana se celebra la misa en la Iglesia Catedral de Cajamarca, luego
se inicia la procesin de la sagrada imagen en la Plaza de Armas, los
fieles entonan cnticos acompaados por el sonido de los clarines y
tambores.
