English 11 Reflective Essay

During my high school career I have achieved many outcomes as well as I have failed

trying to achieve tem. During my three years in high school I have learned a lot from myself and

others experiences. This made me develop a new way of thinking and a new way of expressing

my own thoughts. This let me open myself academically and personally. I faced many barriers

such as being an extrovert, which did not let me learn about others. Then, every year I started

meeting new students in the same situation and my barrier became part of me. I realized being an

extrovert was not a problem.

When I started high school I had to become more independent, since the only way to

become successful is to push yourself and be self determined. High school was a whole new

impact in my life because no one really was there to advise me or guide me. I had to search for

new choices, information about college, choosing my classes, and applying for scholarships. I

tried myself to become more independent and successful. This helped me achieve some of my

academic goals.

In my sophomore year I challenged myself to apply for scholarships. In that same year I

won a scholarship and felt so proud and honored because it was one of my main goals. I tried so

hard to get a scholarship. I spent nights sleeping late writing essays and working with my my

teacher who helped me correct them. Then, I started to get involved in clubs and extracurricular

activities. Later on my junior year, I became the president of IDEAS club. Being involved in

clubs helped me change my perspective about myself. It helped me overcome my fears and put

in practice my leadership skills.

Many people have supported me in my high school career but the people that have helped

me the most are my best friends. These friends have helped me overcome not only my obstacles

at school but also in life. I remember I used to struggle with family problems, which stopped me

from getting good grades and focusing at school for a short period of time. My best friend helped

me every day by sharing motivational thoughts with me. She would remember me about senior

year and college so I would get more involved in school. If it wasnt for her, I would be more

depressed in those times.

One of my main purposes for senior year is to apply for scholarships and get good grades

so Ill be able to graduate. I want to enjoy my last year of high school by doing things I love. I

will be involved in art classes and tremble glee which will inspire me to pursue the career I love,

which is to be a professional art teacher. I will be involved in clubs and extracurricular activities

to explore my social environment more and learn from other students. I want to help bilingual

and immigrant students by encouraging them to be involved in IDEAS club. A club that helps

immigrant students by providing them a scholarship every year, since there are not many

scholarships for them. In my senior year, I plan to achieve my biggest goal which is to graduate

and go to college.
