tense.
o perfect tense- a group of tenses with has, have, or had as a helping verb
o present perfect tense- includes has or have as a helping verb
o past perfect tense- includes had as a helping verb
o future perfect tense- includes will have as a helping verb.

participle form of the main verb. The helping verb and the main verb together form the
present perfect tense.
Model identifying the present perfect tense in the example sentence: She has seen many
bears. To identify the present perfect tense, ask yourself: Is the helping verb in the
present tense? Is the main verb in the past participle form?
