My paper is about the ethics of genetic engineering in humans. Although genetic engineering in
humans may save lives, it is unethical because it could lead to a second eugenics movement and
it is not medically necessary. My paper will explain why genetic engineering in humans is
unethical. My paper will also discuss what the current technology is for genetic engineering and
how it works.

This article is a scholarly article so it is reliable. This article contains no biases and is just facts.
The intended audience is other scholars. The eugenics section is helpful to me because it
supports my claim. The IVF and PGD sections help me support my claim and address the
counterarguments. This article also has many graphics and graphs relating to IVF, cloning, and

Since this article is peer reviewed there are no biases, just facts. The author has other articles
published in this field so he is a reliable source. The authors intended audience is other scholars.
This article is helpful to me because it explains the history of eugenics and how it related to
genetic engineering which supports my claim. There are also graphics which make the article
easier to read.
Masci, David. "'Designer' Humans." The CQ Researcher, vol. 11, no. 19, May 2001, pp. 425-
Designer Humans by David Masci is a peer reviewed journal article about the current state of
genetic engineering today. This article goes into depth about the history of genetic engineering
and the history of eugenics. The laws pertaining to genetic engineering are also discussed.
This article is a peer reviewed source so it is reliable and without biases. The authors intended
audience is other scholars. This article also discusses the history of eugenics and the current laws
on genetic engineering which support my claim. There are graphics on cloning and genetic
Metzl, Jamie. "Genetic Engineering & The Future of Humankind." Ivy Magazine, Apr. 2015.
Genetic Engineering & The Future of Humankind by Jamie Metzl is a magazine article about
the current state of genetic engineering and the Frankenstein Effect. This article also explains
how genetic engineering could be a national security issue between the U.S. and China.
Biases are present in this article, but the author supports her claims with evidence. She is not a
scholar on the subject, but doesnt present any false information. The authors intended audience
in everyone. This article is helpful to me because it talks about the Frankenstein Effect which is
what my whole paper is based on. This article also talks about how genetic engineering could be
a major national security issue between the U.S. and China which supports my claim.

The Gene Hackers by Michael Specter is a magazine article about Crispr-Cas9 and the
scientists that developed it. The current experiments that are being done using Crispr-Cas9 are
also discussed.

This article isnt biased because the ethics of genetic engineering are not discussed. Crisp-Cas9 is
the focus of this article and the current scientists using the technology. I think this is helpful
because it helps me understand what Crispr-Cas9 is used for and how it is used giving me a
better understanding of the technology itself. The authors intended audience is everyone.

Wheelwright, Jeff. "The Revolution Will Be Edited." Discover Magazine, June 2016,
The Revolution Will Be Edited. By Jeff Wheelwright is a magazine article about how high
school students are using Crispr-Cas9. This article also focuses on the different uses of Crispr-
Cas9.
This article has no biases because it is not about the ethics of genetic engineering. The authors
intended audience is everyone. This article is interesting because it highlights how easy Crispr-
Cas9 is to use since a group if high school students can use it. A step by step guide to how Crisp-
