Re: The 142 barangays of Quezon Ciry

Dear Mayor Herbert M. Bautista,

Greetings from zamboanga.com

We write in connection with the 142 barangays of Quezon City and the rest of the barangays in Philippines.
Specifically on the issue of the recognition of the barangay narne.

Most of the time, the name of the barangay is ignored. The barangay is not promoted or recognized as it should
be.

Every structure, every resource in the Philippines, and every citizen within the Philippines is within the barangay
system. Yes, even the Malacafiang Palace is within a barangay as is the case with the Quezon City Hall.

Most city halls and municipality halls, provincial capitols, govemment offices, hospitals, and businesses do not
mention the barangay name within their address, their website or their letter head. Even the Filipino driver's
license aslr5 only for the Street no., City or Municipallty, and Province. The barangay name is disregarded.

The Philippine Department of Tourism does not promote the barangays. All their promotions about the tourist
spots or resorts rarely mention the name of the barangay where the resorts are located. Onty the name of the city
or municipality or province is mentioned.

Yet that vety same business can't acquire a business license without a barangay clearance.

We are asking your honor and the city council in conjunction with the councils of the 142 barangays to pass a
resolution in reference to the local government code of 1991, that the barangay name be used in the addresses of
all businesses, govenrment offices. And ttrat the tourism office will mention the barangay name when promoting
landmarks, resorts, or tourist attractions.

Your honor, we ask for your help to make it known to all within the city that ttre barangay is where they live, that
the barangay is where they are employed, that the barangay is where they make their living" and for them to let
others know that this is so.
