How is knowledge of sexual anatomy and physiology related to
cultural and health practices in the U.S. and other cultures? Do you believe it is important for people to learn about reproductive and sexual physiology? Why or why not? How might correct knowledge of anatomy and physiology change health and culture- related behaviors? Sexual anatomy and physiology is viewed differently between the U.S. and other countries of different cultures. It relates to health practices around the world by understanding how the organs work to meet the needs of a healthy and sexual relationship as well as how everything works when it comes time to reproduce or during health problems that relate to the sexual organs. In 1994 there was a major meeting with the U.N. on population and development. It was declared in this meeting that sexuality, health, human rights and affirming reproductive health shows that people can have a satisfying sex life. There are some countries such as Africa
The knowledge of sexual anatomy and physiology and its relation
to cultural and health practices in the U.S. and other cultures is the study in the development of how one affects the other. The sexual anatomy of a man or a woman can effect certain behaviors, and health concerns; it could also be the influence of a healthy sex life. By having sexual knowledge you can identify myths and superstitions that stem from cultures; this will lead to a better understanding and better decision making for the future. It is important for women (and men) to understand the structure of the female reproductive system, which is really a marvel of biological engineering (Carroll, 2010, pg. 116). I do believe that it is important to learn about the reproductive and sexual physiology because it will not only allow you to make good decision in your sexual behavior, or allow you to understand your bodys needs and wants but also when you know your body you can detect anything that may be off and cause a health issue. By having correct knowledge of the sexual anatomy, reproductive system and sexual health it has been found that it leads to safer decisions in sexual activity; and because sexual activity is safer there will be less outbreaks of sexual health problems such as STIs and STDs.
