1. General Remarks
Our leaflet 630.00 gives full information with technical data, different versions and dimensions of the pilot RMG 630 a.
Our brochure "General Operating Instructions for Gas Pressure Regulators and Safety Devices" will be useful to
fit the pilot into the line, put it into service and find faults that might disturb the operation.
The construction, set-up, supervision and maintenance of gas pressure regulating stations are subject to special
technical rules which should be strictly observed, in particular those given by the DVGW Worksheets G 490, G 491,
and G 495.
The frequency of periodical maintenance to be foreseen for the pilot RMG 630 a should be determined according
to the prevailing service conditions and the type and composition of the gaseous medium. We, therefore,
abstain from imposing any fixed intervals and would rather refer you to the recommendations given by the
DVGW Worksheet G 495.
For maintenance all parts are to be cleaned and subjected to a thorough visual inspection. A visual inspection
should not be omitted when the course of operation or performance tests have shown lack of regulating accuracy.
Particular care should be given to the checking of sealings and diaphragms, as well as of all carrying and movable
parts. Damaged parts should be replaced by new ones.
The item numbers referred to in the maintenance instructions are identical with those of spare parts drawings and
spare parts lists.
We recommend to keep all parts that are specially marked in the spare parts lists in stock for prompt maintenance
availability.
Depending on size, the gas pressure regulators RMG 402/502/503 are provided with a start-up valve to facilitate a
quick pressure compensation to be effected at the regulations diaphragm upon pressurization.
The dosing screw is delivered with a basic adjustment set by RMG. For reducing the amplification
turn the dosing screw anti-clockwise.

When fitting the diaphragm be sure to observe the correct mounting position of the loop (see spare parts drawings
of the pilot units on pages S.11, S.13, S.15, S.17)
When tightening the closing cap (103, 167), hexagon nut (123, 280), and union piece (258) the diaphragm plate
should be secured against distorsion by spanner SW 24.

Adjusting the diaphragm system (119, 260)
For correct fitting of the diaphragm system into a safe position in which the cross holes of the union piece (122, 263)
and of the valve body (121, 261) are in true alignment: turn diaphragm clockwise and anti-clockwise to the stops to
find the central position.

Grease the threaded plug of the completely assembled union piece with LOCTITE and srew it into the metal harmonica
connection piston (173) so that the cross hole of the union piece is positioned 0,5 mm to 1mm below the valve body
(171) cross hole.
Attention: Both cross holes must be in alignment.
Use the adjusting screw (124, 185, 284) to get the diaphragm system in a position that will allow the valve insert to be
fitted.
The locating faces of the load limiting and control unit base plates must be adjusted even to each other.
For basic adjustment of the amplifying valve turn the spindle (33) so far, that the spindle groove (with a black mark)
comes in line with the front edge of the sleeve (31) fixed in the guiding screw (32).
