Abstract
This paper discusses the research question of should students be required to do ag courses even if
they plan not to go to college. Research states that you need ag courses to get accepted in a good
college. This topic is important because it showing you really need ag for good college.
The people groups who should read this research paper are the people that come up with theses
school rules .
Should Students Be Required To Take College Prep Classes Even Though They Are
A-G courses are courses that high school students have to complete to graduate high school.
A-G is required and A-G requires students to complete 4 years of English, 3 years of Math and 2
years of science and add the other requirements as well . The reason why courses are needed is
to show how much students have learned during the years of high school. This could be a big
problem with students that are not thinking about going to college. For students that didn't go to
college it doesn't really benefit them to have this A-G course because they are working in regular
jobs.
Requirements for A-G courses 2017 :The California A-G courses could really benefit
students in the future for making a lot of money and building life skills. This could apply to
people that especially want to go to college and earn their certificate and in order to have that
certificate students are going to have to be required to complete A- G courses. From the research
the University of California offers A-G courses from 298-598$ each semester (University of
California, 2015). From the website of California University it's saying that A-G helps you a lot
with developing , oral, listening skills University of California (2015). The reason why people
get stressed and don't like A-G courses is because it prevents students from graduating and
getting jobs. The California University states that an estimate of 22,000 students fall short and

don't end up graduating due to that fact that they did not meet the university standard also states
that the board voted to allow students with college prep courses known as A-G course with a
grade of a D University of California (2015) . So to conclude A-G courses does help you gain a
lot of skill and knowledge but a lot of students fail because they did not meet the requirements
for A-G courses . Courses are beneficial but the research does not prove that it should be
A-G courses are really beneficial when you are trying to get into to a good school. The example
the website Askmmsun.com ( Sun, 2017) it states that A-G courses are the minimum academic
especially if you are applying to a college in California. I think the A-G courses help students a
lot with their chances of getting into a good college and it is required The California State
(University of California , 2015). All the UCs expect that students have completed A-G
courses. For some other schools they could look and say the student is passing a of his/her
classes but he's/she is not taking the classes that are based on A-G and might not be eligible to
apply for a UC and CSU. In the article Innovated For Public Schools it states all students must
pass the A-G courses in order to get accepted to a good school such as California State
University (2015)
The website also says students must pass 15 A-G course classes with C or better and some

schools expect 3.0 gpa University of California (Innovated public schools, 2015). On the same
website it also states the district of California is to adopt a career technical education as an
optional high school graduation requirement (University of California, 2015). The website
Questia cites the Agriculture of Department it states in a study 1000 employers were ask about
hiring plans and business but it also says that the ag courses are really good because it will help
you it jobs that are really fun and enjoyment (Tarpley, 2007). It also states that this A-G
connects to real life because it helps you succeed in different areas and it gives you more
Skills that A-G courses teach, stated by William (Tarpley, 2007) basically that A-G courses
provide a lot of options for students to get a job that is not average such as like a engineer or a
doctor . Many jobs requires a lot of skill and dedication . California also states that A-G courses
are helping the world because it's helping people to have the opportunity to be something they
want to do experience and states without A-G students would have not have the insight and she
would have ever be passionate about agriculture industry University of California . It saids that
she gain a lot of knowledge and she was understanding the industry more. She saids age really
important a Lot of young people develop the skills necessary to remain world's leaders in
agriculture as world leaders. In the article La School Report the class (Favot, 2017) 26,806 and
47 percent of them received a c or better through their ag courses. The other percentage 14,200
or 53 percent earn . It also states that all the UC and good schools look into whether students
have ag courses because that's one of the things they determine if students want to be

accepted in one of those schools. The website also shows a chart where it says that 75 percent
of seniors in high school are were on track to pass A-G courses with a D or better which
means most people that graduate need the ag especially if want to attend a good
school. (Favot,2017).
Conclusion
To conclude the research says that if you're planning to attend a good college such as a UC or
just those other prestigious schools. Most of the things I found was that schools such as UC say
that A-G courses are the minimum so you could get accepted. My research if you taking a A-G
course in college you could pass it with least grade is D. The last thing I want to say is that this
proves A-G courses are really necessary if you want to go to a good school.
