Dear Mr Antonio Castells-Delgado,

Re: 2045: The Year Man Becomes Immortal? review – pretentious and bogglingly naive

Thank you for your completed complaint form about the above-mentioned article published
by Guardian News & Media (GNM) on 07/07/2016.

The Review Panel’s (Panel) function is to consider complaints from people who believe that
an article published by GNM has breached the former PCC code; that a complaint remains
unresolved, or has been unsatisfactorily resolved by the Readers' Editor (RE). The Panel’s
function therefore, is essentially to review the procedure adopted and the outcome
reached, by the RE.

Having read the article which is the subject of complaint, together with your complaint form
and the correspondence between you and the RE, the panel sees no reason, on this
occasion to interfere with the decision reached by the RE. It is the view of the Panel that the
RE has acted and responded appropriately to your complaint. Indeed the RE’s response has,
in our opinion, been thoughtful and sympathetic. His offer to attach footnotes to the article
including a link to your own website, is we consider, a reasonable one.

In conclusion, it is the view of the Panel that your complaint form does not disclose a prima
facie breach of the former PCC code and therefore we reject your complaint.

Yours sincerely,

SIGNED

Chair: John Willis

Panel Member: Elinor Goodman
