Executive Summary

EDID6508minott.weebly.com was checked by the evaluator manually and descriptive notes on the

evaluators impressions of the page are recorded. Functional Accessibility Evaluator 2 was then

used to evaluate and test the page using RAE from http://fae.cita.uiuc.edu. The software

interrogated the pages of the website and produced a summary report. Screen shots were taken of

the report and are displayed in Appendix A.

Summary of findings from Genevieves evaluation of the site are:

The site has an attractive layout and effective usability that shows evidence of critical,

higher order thinking and synthesis by the author of the subject matter learned in the course.

Summary of findings from RAEs rigorous evaluation of the sites pages are:

40 pages had manual checks done.

17 pages met the interrogative criteria and were given a Pass.

6 pages fell short of the interrogative criteria and received a Warning.

15 pages had violations of a number of rules.

Usability Website
EDID6508minott.weebly.com presents information about the authors learning experiences

in creating and building a website to showcase explorations in coding in HTML, creating media

artefacts, and producing a multimedia project for instruction. The site has an attractive layout and

effective usability that shows evidence of critical, higher order thinking and synthesis by the author.

Content and Layout:

It is evident from exploring the site that the author of the website planned for and

implemented an attractive user friendly layout to effectively organize the material presented to

visitors. There is a good use of white spaces and graphic elements are well aligned. There are

intuitive design actions to complement the theme and purpose of the site. This gives evidence of

how well meaningful learning occurred on the subject matter presented.

Navigation:

The navigation links on the webpages allows the user to easily move forward and back to

move around in the website to where the user expects to go, and it is easy to locate all of the

important elements.

Links (content)

The links all work within the website and links to credible content created in the course on

related pages. Links to external sites were functional.

Background and color choices


Much thought appeared to be given to the colours used for the background and fonts. There

is evidence of complementary use of colours to form a pleasing palette that adds to the visual appeal

of the site that was consistent across all of the pages.

Fonts

The use of fonts were appropriate and consistent in size for the headings and text and text

presented in the webpages.

Graphics & Images (accessibility)

Graphics were used well to combine with text and were well related to the theme/purpose of

the site to engage and enhance the interest and understanding of the user while navigating on the

site on a learning discovery. The needs of visually impaired Internet users could have been given

more consideration with images used for navigation.

Copyright

Fair use guidelines were followed by the author, and there did not appear to be any material

taken from websites that had stated required permission guidelines.

Spelling and Grammar

The author seems to have proofread the material presented on the website and spelling errors

and punctuation or grammar errors were minimal.

Summary

EDID6508minott.weebly.com loaded in good time, was easy to navigate and search for the

assignment elements in the site. The site was well designed and organized with current and up to
date information about the authors educational journey as a student in EDID6508 Developing

Instructional Media, and aspiring instructional designer.
