Unity in the Community

1. Have you ever noticed the lack of trust, loyalty, and respect there is between the police

department and individuals in the community? What causes these emotions that

eventually lead to violence and police brutality, especially ones that revolve around race

and how can they be resolved?

2. One of my strengths is having the ability to bring together individuals in the time of need.

I am always optimistic of any situation and believe everyone has some good in them that

they simply need help to bring out. My main purpose is to bring together individuals of

the opposite race and those who show hatred towards not only one another, but law

enforcement as well. This inquiry is personally meaningful to me because as the daughter

of a police officer, I know they are not all the same. After doing some thinking relating to

the incidents, I asked myself what can we do to bring together the community and law

enforcement to build more sense of security and trust between one another, especially

those who are caught in the mix of the hate?

3. There have been hundreds of police cases that have gone unnoticed and others which

were taken to court and closed by the jury. Because of these incidents, many individuals

today fear the ones who are supposed to be known to protect us from danger. Before I

began developing knowledge on the topic, I thought about how I have experienced the

fear that both groups have dealt with, and in the future, I hope to somehow come together

with others and bring individuals together through an organization. I want to focus

individuals of the opposite race and those who exhibit a passionate hate pertaining to

their relationship with law enforcement because we cannot live in a world where we

continue to hate and kill one another. Individuals are not born to hate one another, but are

instead taught this act through the voices and opinions of others. I want to show these

individuals that there are good officers still out there who genuinely care for them. I also

want to show the law enforcement that there are still individuals who support them in a

world that seems to be completely against them. I am now thinking about using

connections with both groups to find more ideas, opinions, and thoughts on how to be

successful in bringing each other together. I want to explore further into what led to some

of the major incidents that have occurred, the emotions involved, and how we make a

change. I hope we can all come together to save the lives of individuals in fear and help

build a bridge of trust where it matters most.
