The most important day, Helen Keller

1. What is Kellers thesis? What question do you think Keller is trying to answer? Does her
thesis answer her question?
Keller thesis is: I am filled with wonder when I consider the immeasurable contrast
between the two lives which it connects.
Helen Keller tries to answer of this question: why was that particular day so significant?
Yes she answers to that question all along the text by the description of the first day she
meet with her teacher change her life.
2. What is Kellers purpose?
Keller purpose is to describe how the arrival of a person in your life can change
everything. Anne Mansfield Sullivan was a new begging for Helen Keller; she totally
changed her visual perception of her environment.
3. What was Kellers state of mind before Anne Sullivan arrived to help her? To what does
she compare herself? How effective is this comparison? Explain.
Before Keller met Sullivan her state of mind are anger and bitterness continually.
She compared herself to a great ship lost in a dense fog and tries to found his way
by measuring how deep was the ocean on his way to avoiding silting.
The comparison between Keller and the ship are true, because before Anne
Sullivan she was world apart, without real communication with her environment,
there are no interactive between her and the world, she knows nothing.
4. How was the realization that everything has a name important to Keller?
This realization was important to Keller because has a name to everything means to her
have a new way to think about the world around.
5. How was the mystery of language revealed to Keller? What were the consequences for
her of this new understanding of the nature of language?
The mystery of language was revealed to Keller by association image to word. Her
teacher shows her how to associate what you see to how to write it. The consequences of
this new understanding awake Keller soul gave it light, hope and joy; help her swept
away barriers.
6. Keller narrates events of the day Sullivan arrived (2-4), the morning after she arrived (5),
and one day several weeks after her arrival (6-9). Describe what happens on each day,
and explain how these separate incident support Kellers thesis.
The description of the first day give us the sign of trust Keller are gone give to her
teacher: someone took it, and I was caught up and held close in the arms of her who had
come to reveal all things to me. The day after mark the new begging of Keller lifes, she
was experiencing something new and she like it and she is happy. The several weeks after
her teacher arrival Keller experience how sometimes its difficult to understand associate
what you feel and how you want to express it.
