This artefact is a letter At the beginning of my Professional Experience
sent home to the
students families on my about building a trusting relationship between
Practicum at Alstonville
Public School in 2017.
Describe the artefact / document and indicate the
possible impact or result on teaching and/ or
student learning
Placement I discussed with my mentor teacher
home and school.
I sent this letter home to inform parents/carers
who I am and what I will be doing in their childs
class. I understand the significance of sending a
letter home to parents as they have the right to
know, who and what is happening in their
childs class.
I mentioned that I will be around the school
during the next two terms and if they see me
around to make themselves known. This
ensures that I am able build up a rapport with
the parent/carers, opening a gateway to
building a positive trusting relationship.
Effective partnerships are based on mutual
trust and respect parents and teachers have a
shared responsibility for the education of
children (Groundswater-Smith, Ewing, & Le
Cornu, 2015, p.327).

in order to communicate home to
parents/carers (APST 7.3).
