Scribd Hires Google Exec Robert Macdonald to

Head Business Development, Open New York Office
SAN FRANCISCO – July 20, 2010 – Scribd, the world’s largest
social publishing and reading site, today announced that it has hired
Robert R. Macdonald as Senior Vice President of Business
Development. Macdonald led media and strategic partnerships at
Google in New York. He will build a business development team for
Scribd out of the company’s soon-to-be-announced location in
Manhattan.

“Rob is exactly the person we need to help take Scribd to the next
level; he’s smart, has an amazing track record and truly understands the
opportunity that Scribd provides for publishers and media companies,”
said Trip Adler, Scribd CEO and co-founder. “We’re very excited to
have Rob join the team.”

Macdonald, who spearheaded strategic partnerships with Google’s

largest content partners such as The New York Times, Conde Nast,
Hearst, the Tribune Co. and Gannett, has nearly 15 years of experience
in business development and sales, including seven at Google and four
at DoubleClick. At Scribd, Macdonald will devise the company’s
business development strategy, including relationships with major
content, technology and consumer brands. He will report directly to
Adler.
