MULTI VILLAGE WASTE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

HULIGI

The total land selected for this unit is 3 acres.

They are collecting waste from Huligi and other 8 Grama panchayats.
Separate bins were provided for each households to separate Dry and Wet
waste.
Approximately 1 kg of waste will be collected per day from each house.
To avoid transportation and labour cost, they are using a tractor to collect
waste instead of small vehicles.
Around 3 to 4 tonnes of waste will be collected daily from all 9 Gram
panchayats.
They also fixed CC camera to waste collecting vehicle to see to it that the
waste is collected properly.

0 waste management
Waste dumping yard and heaping of waste
Nearly 1 to 1.5 acres of land was selected for dumping the waste which is
collected from each household and dumped in the dumping yard.
The Micro Bacterial culture is sprayed on this dumped waste in order to
reduce smell and also for fast decompose.
The quantity of micro bacterial culture needed to decompose 1 tonne of
waste is 100 gms (1 kg powder costs 900 Rs).
The water is sprayed on waste daily in order to degrade biodegradable
waste.(Biodegradable wastes include unused vegetable cuttings, dried
leaves, flowers, coconut fibers, cow dung etc.)
The waste is kept in that condition only for about 30 to 40 days. After that
the heaps of waste will be made.

Vibrating machine
The waste is dumped over the vibrating machine and vibrated thoroughly.
The machine separates non biodegradable waste (plastic, paper,
cardboard etc) at the top and biodegradable waste at the bottom.

Vermi composting
1. It is a process of turning waste into manure.
2. Composting process reduces the volume of waste by about 20 to 25 % .
3. The bio waste which is collected at the bottom of vibrating machine will
be sent to composting chamber.
4. Certain species of earthworms will be added in each chamber.
5. Earthworms enhance the composting and produces better end product.
6. It takes nearly about 30 to 45 days to convert the organic waste into
useful manure.
7. The process is finished when the material looks like dark, rich soil.
8. The same manure is packed in bags of 50 kg and sold to farmers at Rs
225 per bag.
9. The manure which is prepared by this process will improve
soil nutrients
soil fertility
plant growth and yield

Shredding machine
Shredders are used to cut and reduce the size of solid waste
component. (Large biodegradable wastes to small pieces). Then the same
will be added in vermin composting chamber for composting.

Screening
The manure is then passed through screeners to remove
unnecessary materials.

Bailing
The recyclable materials like metal, plastic and paper etc which is
separated from the waste will be sent to bailing machine.
It is a process of compressing and compacting the non biodegradable
waste to make it easier to handling, transport and storage.

Conclusions
Ensure 100% of compliance from residents.
Be self sufficient in managing wastes and be independent.
Help to improve the environment and keep our place clean and swach.
