It is my pleasure to recommend Emily Nybo for a teaching position at Escondido Union High School District. As her department chair, I have seen her blossom from a new teacher to a colleague that is wise beyond her years. As an English and ELD teacher, Emily has a tenacity to chase the good she sees in her students. Not only did she create a positive rapport with the students in her ELD II class last year, she expressed a strong desire to follow and teach these students as their ELD III teacher the following year to ensure their success. For her department, she was asked to solely create the curriculum for ELD II during the summer before she even began teaching. For both her ELD and English classes, she strives to create the most innovative lesson plans based on the curriculum provided by the district that not only promotes student engagement but also meet the rigor of Common Core and ELD standards. Emily is incredibly self-sufficient and has the ability to think on her feet in any given situation whether it is instructional or behavioral. As her department chair, it is this type of pedagogy that demonstrates to me her confidence and ability to teach English at any level. The positivity that she exudes extends beyond the students in her classroom and reaches her colleagues. No matter which team or department she is placed, she always is willing to collaborate with others. Her youthful enthusiasm and fresh perspective push her veteran peers to try new things in the classroom and grow as professionals. These characteristics have made her an enviable commodity not only to the English and ELD departments but also to the AVID team which is actively recruiting her. Emily is an incredibly warm hearted and gentle person with a generous sense of humor and disposition. In just two years, she has proved herself to be a valuable asset not only in the English and ELD departments but to Orange Glen High School as a whole. I wholeheartedly recommend Emily Nybo for any teaching position she chooses to pursue. It is with great sorrow that I am writing her this letter since I hope to retain her as our best teacher in the ELD department and have been actively preparing her for a future leadership role on campus. Teachers with ingenuity like Emily are rare, and any school would be remiss for not hiring her. If I can be of further insight regarding Emily Nybo, please do not hesitate to contact me.
