Teaching Timeline
Please make a very detailed step-by-step timeline for the whole activity that you can follow

Step 0 Arrival and Set up (5:15-5:30 arrival)

Step 1 Opening
(3 mins)

-First I would introduce myself to the students, and tell them what we will be
learning about.
-Hello students my name is Ms. Fiacco and Im going to teach you how to use
Voice Thread. Voice Thread is a cool app where you can make slideshow videos.
It includes many different features such as voiceovers, filters, music, and more.
-I made my very own video of six sentimental artifacts that are important to me
by using Voice Thread.
-Then I would ask them questions.
-Can anyone tell me what a sentimental artifact is?
-Good now I want you to all think of a few artifacts that are sentimental to you.
Raise your hand if youd like to share them with the class.
-The students would share their sentimental artifacts with the class, and
brainstorm other ideas for slideshow videos.

Step 2 Sorting and Ordering

(5 mins)

-After my opening I would show the students my Voice Thread of my

sentimental artifacts.
-This is the video I made of my six sentimental artifacts using Voice
Thread.
-After watching the video I would ask the students if there were any
changes they think I should have made to my Voice Thread.
-From there I would show the students my sentimental artifacts in
person and ask them if they think I should have arranged them in a
different order throughout the video.
-What order should I have placed my sentimental artifacts in the
Voice Thread I made?
-What would you have said about my sentimental artifacts?

Step 3 Pre-scripting
(15 mins)

-After the students have come up with the order theyd like me to place my
sentimental artifacts in, as well as what I should say about my sentimental
artifacts I will show them how to use Voice Thread.
-I will show them how to use different effects such as voiceover, webcam, filters,
music, and more.
Step 4 Digital Storytelling Procedures
(20 min)

-First you will pick out a couple sentimental artifacts. Then you will take photos
of those artifacts and save them to your phone.
-Next you will either go onto the website www.voicethread.com or you will
download the app on your phone or tablet.
Once you are on the website or app you will create an account. After you have
created an account you will click on the button Create. From there you will click
on the button that says Add Media.
-Clicking Add Media will allow you to download photos from your computer, cell
phone, and it even allow you to take a webcam photo.
-After you have downloaded your photos, you will click on the button that says
Comment.
-From there you will click on the button of a plus sign. This button will give you
options to edit your photos.
-You can add text by clicking the abc button, you can add a voiceover by
clicking the microphone, and you can add a webcam video by clicking the
webcam button.
-I will allow the students to practice on their own technology while I am explaining
these steps.

Step 5 Editing and Finalizing the Digital Story

(10 min)

-I will show the students other effects they can add to their Voice Thread.
-To finalize your Voice Thread you can add a cover photo by clicking on the add
cover art button. You can also add a title to your video by clicking the edit button.
This button will allow you to add a title, a description, and tags to your video.

Step 6 Extension

-I could extend this lesson by creating a Google Document for the students that
attended Digital Storytelling Night. Once all of the students have created their
own Voice Thread and are satisfied with what they have done I will show them
how to share their video with others.
-You will click the button that says share, and from there you will click the button
that says copy link.
-Then I will share the Google Document with the students. From there the
students can post the link to their Voice Thread in the Google Document so all of
the students, parents, and faculty members that attended Digital Storytelling
Night can view the students videos.
