Competences and full-time engineering practice exposure

required of an applicant applying for registration as a
Professional engineer with the
Council of Registered Professional Engineers of Mauritius

Applicant for an eventual registration as a Professional Engineer with the Council of Registered
Professional Engineers of Mauritius are kindly requested to take note of the minimum
requirements of the registration process as listed below, which should be over a minimum of
24 months supervised training carried out on a full time basis

Applicant’s should demonstrate his/her theoretical knowledge, understanding, and ability
[involvement over a minimum of 24 months of supervised training on full time basis]

Applicant’s ability to apply that knowledge to optimisation of existing and emerging
technologies in their own area of practice.

Applicant’s should demonstrate his/her application of theoretical knowledge to Engineering
Solutions, Design and Research
[involvement over at least 45 weeks, as detailed below]

A. Analysis and Solving of Engineering Problems.
[Minimum 15 weeks]

B. Ability to apply theoretical knowledge to engineering design (to meet specific needs:
purpose and performance).
[Minimum 15 weeks]

C. Ability to conduct investigations of technical issues consistent with applicant’s level of
knowledge and understanding, and ability to design and conduct experiments, analyse
and interpret data towards designing and developing an engineering solution
[15 weeks equivalent]

Applicant’s should demonstrate his/her Management and Leadership Skills
[involvement over at least 40 weeks]

A Knowledge and understanding of, and ability to use, the techniques, skills, and modern
engineering tools, including management practices and procedures, necessary for
engineering practice.

B. Ability to see through the operation of supply and execution of a contract.
