system that is comprised of two perforated steel plates. The
first is located in the top chamber of the mill and permits only
loose sand and small umps to feed into the bottom chamber.
The second screen is located atthe discharge flange of the bot-
tom chamber. It allows only grain size sand and some com-
Pound grains to ext the mill. Both screens are replaceable,
‘The CAR attrition mil utlizes a 3 phase vibrator motor which is
bottom mounted to provide maximum agitation ofthe sand mas.
Classifier
The CAR-Series fluidized bed classifier is fabricated from 1/4”
steel and utlizes @ regenerative type blower for fluidization
pressure. The blower eliminates fluidized bed membrane satu-
‘ation problems associated with the use of compressed ai.
‘A4" diameter exhaust is provided for connection to an existing
dust collection system,
Sand that is discharged from the classifier is ready for use
The discharge of the classifier can be configured for use with a
bucket elevator or vibratory transfer conveyor.
‘The classifier is constructed from three major components:
* plenum chamber into which fluidizing aris blown by a
blower
‘+ Afluidizing screen made from 400 Mesh Stainless Steel
screen material
‘+ Aupper chamber which serves as a cover and pressure
chamber
The plenum chamber serves not only as a base, but also a
‘means of distributing the incoming air tothe underside ofthe
fluidizing screen,
‘The fluidizing screen is placed directly on top ofthe plenum
chamber flange and is held in place with the upper chamber,
‘The upper chamber is mounted on top ofthe base. I serves not
only as a cover, but also as a dust collection chamber.
The fluidizing action ofthe sand assists in polishing each grain,
removing the fines produced by the casting process and trans-
port of the sand. A negative pressure maintained over the bed
by a dust collector (supplied by the customer) and controled by
‘agate located between the collector and the classifier ensures
that the fines are removed from the chamber.

MIXING CHAMBER/MOTOR HEAD ASSEMBLY
‘The mixing chamber isa direct drive design that eliminates
all maintenance associated with timing belt and gear drive
systems. The mixing chamber is made from heavy walled
‘tubing that is externally reinforced for maximum rigidity
and sttiness.
‘The mixing chamber doors feature heavy-duty quick release
knobs that allow for simple, easy access to the interior ofthe
‘chamber. The doors are hinged atthe bottom and swing down
to allow complete access to the mixing blades and driveshaft.
The hinged doors eliminate all ergonomic problems associated
with the removal of fabricated components from the mixer.
‘The heavy-duty driveshaft is made from ground and
polished-stress proofed steel shafting and is direct coupled
tothe main drive motor.
The mixing blades are faced with 14” thick tungsten carbide
and are a fixed position blade with predetermined angles and
‘head heights. This greaty simplifies the replacement process
and eliminates the need for constant blade inspection and
adjustment found with other blade designs.
‘The mixing blades are overtapping and sized to allow a build
up of resinous material that creates the lining of the inside
‘of the mixing chamber. This lining provides an optimum
relationship between the end of the blade and the interior
iameter of the chamber. Its constantly maintained by each
blade wear a it occurs. With this lining as an intentional part
of the mixing chamber, the daly cleaning consists of only
‘removing the build up on the mixing blades and driveshaft.
‘The mixing chamber is designed to be as rugged yet simple as
possible. The fixed position mixing blades, close tolerance
regenerative lining, and high speed rotation provide an
extremely intense blending action with 2 minimum amount
ot cleaning ané maintenance.

PUMPING SYSTEM
‘The pumping system is housed ina separate enclosure to
protect the components from the plant environment. The
system will consist of:
‘+ Two magnetically coupled pumps
+ Two fast action stainless steel ar actuated 3-way valves
‘+ Optional piston type catalyst metering pump for 3 part
PUNB systems:
‘The pura motors provide consistent autput RPM across the
operating range.
‘The pumps are direct coupled to the drive motors to eliminate
the inaccuracy found in chain, bet, and gear reduction
couplings. The direct in-line coupling also eliminates all
‘side load on pump bearings and packing extending the
lite ofthe pump.
Fast response air actuated 3-way bal valves provide instant
-souting of chemicals to the mixing chamber,
‘A low pressure air jet system provides a low CFM airflow to
help introduce the chemical into the mixing chamber and keep
‘the mixing chamber resin ports clear. The ait fet system is fully
adjustable via flow controls located in the electrical enclosure.
‘Standards.
Recirculating Pumps
+ The resin pumps run continuously and the 3-way ball
valves divert to the mixing chamber when called on, This
system is helpful in maintaining resin temperature.
Calibration Timer with Remote Start / Stop Buttons

18002-102915Palmer BE-Series Bucket Elevators
Overview
For years, Palmer has incorporated the use of bucket
elevators into its sand processing systems. We have, in the
Past, relied on industrial bucket elevator OEM's to supply us
with our elevators. However, many commercially light-duty
elevators designed to elevate com or grain are simply too
fragile for foundry use. The Palmer line of heavy-duty bucket
elevators are designed by foundrymen, for foundrymen.
Therefore, they are designed for years of abuse in the world's
toughest environment — your foundry,
Palmer Bucket Elevators feature:
*+ Heavy-duty construction to prevent wear and leakage
* Fully removable sides plates for complete access to the
elevator internal components (No more working through a
peep hole)
* Oft-the-shett motor, drive, and bearings for easy replacement
