Learning Experience 1 Instructional Materials

Expectations Poster
o These are the expectations the class and I came up with as I began teaching in
January. They are stated by the class before each lesson I teach.

Dear Mrs. LaRue Letters from Obedience School by Mark Teague


o This story will be read as a modeled text that includes a variety of friendly letters.

Mr. Larry Letter Anchor Chart


o This anchor chart will be used to introduce the topic of writing letters. It will be
our key resource throughout the two-week unit.

Parts of a Letter Song Sheet


o This song will be an additional resource to aid my students in remembering the
parts of a letter. It will be sung each day. Gestures will be added once lyrics are
memorized.

SmartBoard/Document Camera
o The SmartBoard and document camera will be used to display the song lyrics.
This will allow the teacher to track the words as they are sung.

Chart Paper/Marker
o The large chart paper and marker will be used to create our class letter to a faculty
member.

Parts of a Letter Song Sheet


o This song will be an additional key resource to aid my students in remembering
the parts of a letter. It will be revisited each day.

SmartBoard/Document Camera
o The SmartBoard and document camera will be used to display the song lyrics.
This will allow the teacher to track the words as they are sung.

Parts of a Letter/Function Matching Game


o This matching game will be created by me as a tool to assess the students and
their knowledge of the parts of a letter. It consists of a poster board letter and parts
of the letter and their function labels.

Parts of a Letter Exit Ticket


o This is a worksheet created by me to assess my students individually on whether
they understand the different parts of a letter.

Crayons
o Crayons will be used as the medium for the exit ticket.
Lined Paper
o This paper will be provided to my students once their exit ticket is completed.
They will choose a friend, teacher, or family member to write to and will use it to
begin practicing writing a letter.
Learning Experience 3 Instructional Materials
The Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt
o This book will be read as a modeled text that includes letters from a variety of
different colored crayons.

Lined Paper
o This lined paper was created by me and will be used to write a response letter to a
crayon of the students choice.
Pencil/Crayons
o Pencils will be used to write the letters. Crayons will be used to decorate the
letter.
Student Checklist
o This checklist was created by me as a form of self-assessment for the students.
