Veterans Home Run: A 5K Walk N Run

The PawSox Foundation is proud to present its second annual Veterans Home Run 5K Walk 'n
Run this year on Saturday, May 20th, 2017 starting at 9 am at McCoy Stadium. This year's race
features a revised route that takes participants into scenic downtown Pawtucket before returning
to McCoy Stadium for a finish at home plate.

The Veterans Home Run 5K is held in honor of those who have served or are currently
serving our country. Proceeds will benefit veterans causes in Rhode Island. The PawSox
Foundation has also partnered with the 21 Heroes Organization this year, in honor of the 21
Pawtucket veterans who were killed while serving in the Vietnam War.

McCoy Stadium Celebrates its 75th
Anniversary
This year McCoy Stadium is celebrating their 75th Anniversary. The stadium was built in 1942

and named after the mayor of Pawtucket at the time, Thomas P. McCoy. To celebrate their 75th

Anniversary, limited edition merchandise is now on sale for fans to celebrate this special

milestone with us. Some of the items now on sale include limited edition 75th anniversary t-

shirts, hats, and pins. The cost of the t-shirt is $24 and the cost of the hat is $25.

Facts about the Pawtucket Red Sox and McCoy Stadium

McCoy Stadium is the home of the longest baseball game ever played. The game was

between the Rochester Red Wings and the Pawtucket Red Sox. The game went for 33

innings which took a total of 8 hours and 25 minutes to play, in two different days to

complete.
McCoy Stadium is one of the oldest minor league baseball stadiums. The stadium was

built in 1942 and was named in honor of Thomas P. McCoy who was the mayor of

Pawtucket from 1936-1945. The total seating capacity of McCoy Stadium is 10,031.
This year McCoy Stadium is celebrating their 75th Anniversary. Throughout their 75

years, McCoy Stadium has been the home of the Pawtucket Slaters, the Pawtucket

Indians, and currently the Pawtucket Red Sox. Limited edition merchandise is now on

sale to celebrate this milestone.


The Pawtucket Red Sox are the Triple-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox. They will

play 142 games this season. Throughout their history many Pawtucket players have

went on to become some of the MLBs best players. Several former Pawtucket players

even have been inducted to the National Baseball Hall of Fame, including Carlton

Fisk, Wade Boggs, and Jim Rice.

Biographies
Biographies of our Executives

Larry Lucchino Chairman: Larry Lucchino is the former President and CEO of the

Boston Red Sox, and is a member John W. Henrys ownership group. He currently serves

as Chairman to the Pawtucket Red Sox. Lucchino was born on September 6, 1945 in

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Princeton University in 1967 and then

attended Yale Law School.


Charles Steinberg President: Before becoming President of the Pawtucket Red Sox,

Charles Steinberg was a member of the Boston Red Sox front office for 10 years. While

working for the Boston Red Sox, Steinberg was an executive vice president as well as a

senior advisor to Larry Lucchino.


Dan Rea III Senior Vice President/General Manager: Prior to becoming the Senior

Vice President and General Manager of the Pawtucket Red Sox, Dan Rea III has worked

with the Boston Red Sox for a decade. With his time at the Boston Red Sox, Rea served

as a Fenway Ambassador who greeted fans entering the ballpark, worked with the 100th

Anniversary of Fenway Park project, and was an assistant to Larry Lucchino.


Jeff White Treasurer: Jeff White has worked in the baseball industry for more than two

decades. He served as CFO of Major League Baseball and was a Financial Advisor with

the Boston Red Sox. White is currently serving as the Treasurer for the Pawtucket Red

Sox.
