NewDelhi:TheCBSEhasdoneawaywiththeContinuousandComprehensiveEvaluation(CCE)schemeandreplaceditwithauniformsystemofassessment
andexaminationtobefollowedbyitsaffiliatedschoolsforclasses6to9.

Themovethataimsatstandardizingteachingandevaluationacrossschoolswillbeimplementedfromtheupcomingacademicsession.

"Followingthedecisiontorestoreboardexaminationsforclass10,itwasimperativetohaveanewschemeofevaluationforclasses6to9becausedisparitiesin
thesystemwerecreatingproblemsforstudentswhenevertheymigratedtoanotherschool,"aCentralBoardofSecondaryEducationofficialsaid.

UndertheCCEscheme,whichwasinplacesince2009,thestudentswereassessedbasedontwotermend'summativeassessments'andfour'formative
assessments'(twoeachineachterms).

Sixtypercentoftheassessmentwaspenpapertests,while40percentformativeassessmentduringtheyearwascontinuousevaluationbyteachersbasedon
variousactivities.

Accordingtothenewguidelines,therewillstillbetwotermsbutthepenpapertestweightagewillbe90percentincluding80marksforhalfyearlyoryearlyexam
and10marksofthe20markssetasideforperiodicassessmentineachterm.
