Learning Experience: Bubble Wrap Play

Programming Purpose: Upon observing the classroom, I noted that the infants enjoyed exploring new, stimulating
activities. The purpose of this experience is to allow the children to explore bubble wrap.

Objective: Children will practice their gross motor skills as well as cause and effect cognition as they attempt to pop
the bubbles with their feet and hands.

Materials: Modifications:

-Large Roll of Bubble Wrap Stabilize:

- Masking Tape N/A

Simplify:

N/A

Enhance:

Have a layer of paint under the bubble wrap so that as

the children walk across they mix the colours (visual
stimulation).

Tweak:

Use bubble wrap with different sized bubbles.

Opening (Introduction)

-Ms. Emma will tape the bubble wrap together to make a large rectangle.

-Ms. Emma will tape the rectangle of bubble wrap to the floor in the classroom.

-Ms. Emma will invite the children over to explore the bubble wrap (Invitation).

Body (Content)

- Children will be allowed to freely explore the bubble wrap. They may jump, walk, sit, or event pull at it. As
this is an open-ended activity, their reaction and behaviour towards the bubble wrap is unpredictable.
- As children preform certain actions (for example: jumping), Ms. Emma will state what they are doing.
Example: Are you jumping? Jump! Jump! Jump! (Behavioural Reflection).
- For children who are unsure of how to use the bubble wrap, Ms. Emma will step on it to show them what to
do (Modeling).

Closing (Ending)

- When the children lose interest, or it is time to transition to lunch, the bubble wrap will be taken off the floor
and placed into the garbage.

Transition

-When program is over, children will be placed in their chairs for lunch.
