This project customized a multi-purpose space among historic shophouses
-- a white box for exhibition and a black box for performance. By introducing
certain similiar and disimilar elements to the building, the projectacknowl-
edged the significance of the site and created a contemporary urban space
at the same time. The challenges were to resolve the contrasting needs of
the two boxes in natural lighting and accessibility.

04_STRUCTURES OF SPACE_SHAMROCK

10 / 12 / 2016
With a team of 5, a 1:20 scale canopy structure was designed and built in a
given abstract site. To satisfy the requirement of 4 entrances to the site, a
primary sun direction and specific projection area, a gradation of transpar-
ency where visibility and light condition was carefully controlled. With the
aid of spring particle system, the structure was able to stand on its own.
Software: Rhino, Grasshopper
Form Exploration

Through the unconventional creation of space by 3 small pavilions instead of 1, our design aims to encourage meetings and interactions while at the same time providing shelter and
guiding users from one entrance to the others. The curved forms of the pavilions guide users along an intended path into the central space, where meetings can occur. The space frame
provides adequate shading from the direction of the Sun and provides spaces for mixed usage.

A multi-functional Artificial Design Gallery on Orchard Road. The form of
the building intends to stand out from the environment and resonate with
the unique landscape of the site which suggest that there are distinctive
activities going on within the building.

N Trac
Point of high human density

Busy Quiet

Located in a area surrounded by shopping malls, both the human and auto-
mobile traffic is huge near the site. Only on the northeast corner of the site is
an international school where the noise level is usually minimum with little
traffic. Thus, the conclusion for the gradient diagram was obtained. The
busiest side will be used as the main entrance of the building and the rela-
tively quiet corners will be allocated with library and offices that require
privacy and low level of noise. There are mainly typical high rise buildings
with geometric forms and singular paerns around the site that easily make
people feel overwhelming and unseled. Therefore the form of the project
will dierenate from the surrounding.

To create a space that is comfortable, condusive and thought-provoking,
the core of the building is made a sunken coutyard to ensure the view from
within is free of urban landscapes. Its pure and uid form, isolated courtyard
and the connuity of space promoted by the circular shape encourage the
visitors to focus and sele down to enjoy the art and culture among the urban
chaos.

05_ECological tea garden, HANGZHOU, CHINA

30 / 07 / 2016
This project aims to design a comprehensive ecological tea garden that
integrates both aspects of the natural and culture landscape. With land-
scape design principles and artistic expression techniques, we aimed to
satisfy the needs of urban residents going back to the natural environment
to experience tea culture, and to promote the sustainable development of
tea production and ultimately tea culture itself.
Software: SketchUp, AutoCAD, Lumion, Photoshop, Premier Pro
The chosen site resides near Longjingcun in Hangzhou, Zhejiang China, within the West Lake area.
Since the time when Longjing tea (also known as Dragon Well Tea) was first granted an imperial tea status,
it has been known as one of Chinese top 5 tea, renowned for its fresh and crisp aroma, and slightly sweet
flavour. The tea grown near the West Lake area is said to be one of the best Longjing tea, and sells annual-
ly for higher prices that other producers of the same tea.
