Nan Lian Garden

Directions:

MTR Diamond Hill Station Exit C2, follow the signs and walk for around five
minutes.

Description:
Cutting through Diamond Hills myriad of high-rise apartments is the tranquil Nan
Lian Garden, a public park also built in the style of the Tang dynasty. Its scenic
garden is meticulously landscaped over an area of 3.5 hectares, in which every
hill, rock, body of water, plant and timber structure has been placed according to
specific rules and methods. There are permanent exhibitions of Chinese timber
architecture, rocks and potted plants, while the hungry might want to try the
vegetarian restaurant or teahouse.

Kowloon Park
Directions:

MTR Tsim Sha Tsui Station, Exit A1

Description:
After the hectic surrounds of Tsim Sha Tsui, the tranquillity of Kowloon Park
washes over you like a mountain spring. But this peaceful place was actually
once an army fortress that was handed over by the military for public use in
1970.
For some relaxation, head to the Chinese Garden, which comprises a two-tier
lotus pond linked by a rock cascade, and be sure to look out for the terrapins
basking in the sun.
Dont let a wet weather day put you off from visiting either: listening to the rain
falling on the foliage from the parks 200-meters sheltered walkway is pure bliss.
There are also kung fu and lion dance performances every Sunday. You can find
more information here.

Hong Kong Park

Directions:

MTR Admiralty Station, Exit C1. Follow the signs up the escalator to Hong Kong
Park.
Description:
An oasis of green in an urban setting, Hong Kong Park is outstanding in the way
its design blends in with the surrounding natural landscape. The park features an
aviary, a greenhouse, the Flagstaff House Museum of Tea Ware, the Hong Kong
Visual Arts Centre, fountains, lily ponds, playgrounds, a restaurant and even a
marriage registry. The aviary features more than 80 species of birds in a well-
designed tropical rainforest.
Also noteworthy is the way flowing water has been employed as a thematic motif
to link the different features of the park by waterfalls, streams, ponds and cliffs
made from artificial rocks. The park is also a great vantage point to take some
snaps of the surrounding skyscrapers.

Temple Street Night Market

Directions:
MTR Yau Ma Tei Station, Exit C, turn onto Temple Street at Man Ming Lane;
or,
MTR Jordan Station, Exit A. Turn right onto Jordan Road and then take
another right onto Temple Street.
Description:
When the sun goes down, the traders have already laid out their wares and the
opera singers and fortune tellers begin to emerge. Welcome to the Temple Street
Night Market, a popular street bazaar, named after a Tin Hau temple located in
the centre of its main drag, and a place so steeped in local atmosphere that it
has served as the backdrop to many a memorable movie.
Trinkets, tea ware, electronics, watches, menswear, jade and antiques are
scrutinised and haggled over, while claypot rice, seafood, noodles and other
treats are consumed with gusto.
Temple Street Night Market is an enduring example of the theatre and festivity of
a Chinese market. And its on show nightly.
