DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS AND RULES FOR WRITTEN EXAMINATION - R001

Part A Detailed instructions for the use of the workstation

A1) Take a sit at the assigned workstation, turn on your computer and check the correct operation
of Matlab and Simulink. It is not allowed the use of a personal notebook.

A2) In the directory S:\ of the LADISPE PC you will find the following files:

a pdf file with detailed instructions for written examination (the instructions you are
reading)
a pdf file with the SparsePOP software user manual
a number of Matlab data files (.mat) with the input-output data sequences to be used
during the exam (each one of you will have to select the correct files according to what
written in the text of the exam)

A3) You are advised to choose D:\ as the working directory.

A4) During the exam, you are also advised to save your work frequently (in case of work station
failure, your work can be recovered from the last save command).

A5) At the end of the exam, you MUST copy the final Matlab scripts used for PUI computation
in the folder H:\ (MANDATORY)
Part B General Rules

B1) In order to take the exam you must show a valid identity card.

B2) You are NOT allowed either to take away or to make a copy of the examination test, under
the penalty of test invalidation.

B3) To begin with, you are allowed to use two examination sheets (2 fogli protocollo a quadretti,
which are similar to exercise book sheets), which will be signed by the teacher. In case of
need, you can use further examination sheets, as long as they are signed by the teacher. All
signed examination sheets must be returned to the teacher at the end of the exam, under the
penalty of test invalidation.
Each examination sheet is supposed to be labelled with

- your Surname and First Name


- Date
- Sheet sequence number

B4) During the exam you are only allowed to use the examination sheets, the pen and the mate-
rial provided by the teacher in electronic form (SparsePOP user manual, Matlab data files).
Cheating is penalized with test invalidation.

B5) This is an individual examination test: you are not allowed to get in contact with other test
takers. Cheating is penalized with test invalidation.

B6) You are not allowed to use personal notebooks and any kind of personal calculator.

B7) You are not allowed to use a mobile phone, which must be turned off and kept in your bag.

B8) The duration of the test is 3 hours.

B9) Any kind of plot or diagram (graphic representation) must be completed with the independent
and the dependent variables, as well as the axis units.

B10) Two points of the total score are left for the presentation quality of the written exam (Orderly
presentation, legible handwriting, clarity, ability to synthesize).

B11) If you are not self-confident about the results of your exam, you have two options for quitting:
(a) During the exam, you may quit simply by writing QUIT either on the first examination
sheet or on the exam text and return all papers to the teacher; (b) After the exam and not
later than 24 hours from the end of the examination test, you may send an e-mail to the
teacher from your institutional e-mail box (the one from Politecnico di Torino).

B12) If you DO NOT quit the exam, then it will be marked and your score will recorded.

B13) If you pass the exam and you are not satisfied with the obtained score, then you may ask (only
once and before the score is recorded) the teacher not to record the obtained score and to
take again the exam during the next exam date.
