Today, I'm going to talk about a notion we have seen in class this year : Places and

forms of power . To begin with, I'd like to give a quick definition of power. The power is a
strength and capable of being exerted, power is synonym of might. The three state power
are the executive power (they run the country), the legislative power ( they write and vote
laws), and the judicial power (they enforce the law). And finaly the fourth power is the
press.

So, the press is it a dangerous power ?

Firstly, I'm going to deal with the tabloids that attract the largest readership.
And Secondly, I will talk about a newspaper story.

Let's start with the Tabloids.

Tabloids are newspapers that are half the size of traditional papers. Articles are usually
short and written in simple language with short sentences. A lot of photo-graphs are
included. They specialize in sensational news, scoops, road accidents and shocking
murders. Newspapers allows us to know everything that happens in the world.

Now, let me turn now on to a newspaper article about a crime studied in class.
The victim is Joanna Yeates, she was murdered during Chrismas time. The first suspect
in the murder of Joanna was Chris Jefferies, a former English teacher. He was
considered an ideal suspect because he was her landlord and lived in the same
house. So, he was the ideal suspect for the journalists who could write juicy stories. Chris
Jefferies did not kill Joanna because he was released without charge by the police. The
media made jefferies pass for a crazy man.
As a consequence the readers were led to think he was the murderer.

In conclusion, the press can get into the private lives so we can say that the press has a
dangerous power because they can destroy the life of an innocent man.
Attention cependant la formulation de ta problmatique "on prfrera "So, is the Press
a dangerous power, then?"

tabloids (The Sun, Daily Mirroir, etc) des journaux plus "srieux" (The Economist, The
Financial Times, etc).
dangereux.
