Background : Nutritional problems in Indonesia and in developing countries generally still
dominated by issue Protein Energy Malnutrition (PEM), anemia Iron issue, problem due to Iodine deficiency Disorders (IDD), and the problem Lack of Vitamin A (LVA). To Objective : Identify characteristic features malnutrition treated at Children's Hospital Inpatient Room Jayapura period December 2011 - in May 2012. Methods : Descriptive retrospective with a location in space Children's Inpatient Hospital Jayapura in 2012. Results : In the period December 2011 - May 2012 malnutrition treated in hospital inpatient childrens Jayapura numbered 47 children. Malnutrition cases by age obtained, at the age of 0-5 years amounted to 85.1% and at the age of 6-12 years as many as 14.9%. Malnutrition cases by sex obtained as many men as women as much as 53.19% and 46.81%. Malnutrition cases based on the diagnosis of disease obtained Acute Gastroenteritis (GEA) as much as 25.53%, bronchopneumonia as much as 19.15%, 14.89% of TB, Malaria as much as 10.64%, Bronchiolitis as much as 6.39%, another diagnosis as much as 23.4%. Conclusion : The number of patients with the most severe malnutrition treated in hospitalized children during the period December 2011 - May 2012, by age group is the age group 0-5 years as many as 40 (85.1%) children. Malnutrition is mostly found in men 25 (53,19%). Based on the distribution of the disease in patients with malnutrition is GEA as many as 12 (25.53%). Keywords : Malnutrition, Hospitals Jayapura
