RESOLUTION PROMOTING COMMUNITY-BASED APPROACH TO

ECOTOURISM IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF TABUELAN, CEBU TOWARDS
SUSTAINABLE ECOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT

WHEREAS, in view of the many existing rich cultural and tourist

attractions in the Municipality of Tabuelan, Cebu, this administration is
pursuing vigorously programs and plans to attract foreign as well as local
tourists;

WHEREAS, at present, the Local Government Unit of Tabuelan, Cebu

has increased local capacity building and employment opportunities by
means of ecotourism through which it has significantly addressed the
problem of poverty and achieved sustainable development;
 WHEREAS, some of the rich cultural heritage sites and tourist
attractions of the Municipality, to name a few, are the Japanese Burial ground
in Barangay Olivo, the magnificent white beaches, the splendid Ambakan
Falls in Barangay Bongon, the well-known Himaroto cave in Barangay
Kanluhangon and many other inviting attractions waiting to be explored;

WHEREAS, in order to achieve the desired results in adopting an

effective ecotourism program, the Local Government Unit of Tabuelan, Cebu
has designed and formulated a plan adopting the following ecotourism
principles:

1. Minimize impact
2. Build environmental and cultural awareness and respect
3. Provide positive experiences for both visitors and hosts
4. Provide direct financial benefits for conservation
5. Provide financial benefits and empowerment for local people

WHEREFORE, premises considered, and on motion by all the

members of the Body present, duly seconded by same, it was

RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, to promote, as it is hereby

promoted, a community-based approach to ecotourism in the Municipality of
Tabuelan, Cebu towards sustainable ecological development.

UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED at Tabuelan, Cebu on 27 February 2013.
