1. to talk about past cultures and civilizations


2. to reactivate past simple of irregular verbs
3. to write about different types of dinosaurs

Activity 1 Interaction: T-Ss; Ss-T


Timing: 6

Warm-up:
T tells Ss to choose a strip of paper and make up sentences beginning with
Yesterday I.... (Worksheet1)
Ss make up sentences using the verb into past simple
Homework checking:
T checks the homework: WB Ex. 7/51

Activity 2 Interaction: T-Ss; Ss-T


Timing: 5

Aim: to repeat chorally and individually the new vocabulary


T asks Ss to close their books and plays the DVD
Ss repeat chorally
T points to the flashcards no. 13-19 from the flip-chart and Ss repeat chorally
and individually

Activity 3 Interaction: T-Ss; Ss-T; Ss-Ss


Timing: 10

Aim: to listen and read in order to find out specific information


T writes the following sentence on the board:
Look at its sharp teeth and .......!
Ss will have to listen and follow the lines to complete the sentence:
Look at its sharp teeth and claws!
T asks Ss to close their books and watch the DVD
Ss read out the dialogue in pairs
Ss read the sentences from ex. 3/78 and write yes or no.
T gives them time to go over the dialogue and do the task then checks Ss
answers

Activity 4 Interaction: T-Ss; Ss-T


Timing: 3

Aim: to practice the new vocabulary


T asks Ss to close their books and points to flashcards no. 20 on the board.
Then T says and writes Look at its sharp teeth and claws!
Ss repeat chorally and individually
T points to the rest of the flashcards on the board and writes the prompts
below them.
Individual Ss talk about the pictures
Ss open their books and do ex. 4/79 orally in class

Activity 5 Interaction: T-Ss; Ss-T


Timing: 7

Aim: to practice past simple of irregular verbs

T reads the verbs on the scroll one at a time


Ss repeat chorally and/or individually
T explains that these verbs also have irregular form in the past simple
T reads the examples in ex. 5 and explains the task
Ss look at the pictures and do the exercise first orally then in writing in class

Activity 6 Interaction: T-Ss; Ss-T; Ss-Ss


Timing: 6

Aim: to use the past form of some irregular verbs and complete a description about
different types of dinosaurs
T asks Ss to read the text and complete it with the past forms of the irregular
verbs.
Ss work in groups. The first group that finish the task is rewarded (Worksheet
2)

Activity 7 Interaction: T-Ss; Ss-T;


Timing: 5

Aim: to listen and put a tick or a cross


T asks Ss to look at the pictures and explain that they should tick the things
people didnt do three hundred years ago.
T plays the CD twice if necessary
T checks Ss answers

Extension: T asks Ss to watch the DVD, listen and then answer the questions
T plays the DVD with pauses for Ss to answer the questions
e.g. Q: When did cavemen live?
A: They lived in caves.

Aim: to talk about what past cultures and civilizations


T plays the CD
Ss listen and follow the lines
Ss in pairs act out similar dialogues using the prompts in ex. 7 and the
dialogue they listened to as a model
