[OFFICE OF THE STUDENT REGENT] 2010-2011

INTERNSHIP APPLICATION
The Office of the Student Regent is dedicated to bringing
the students’ perspective to the UC Board of Regents.
Passion and perseverance are vital characteristics that
contribute to the success of our office. We foster teamwork
and leadership, and we would like you to join our office.

Applications will be accepted during Summer 2010, and we


will hold interviews during Fall 2010.

Qualifications:

1. Full-time student. (e.g. 12 units or more per quarter)

2. Cumulative 3.0+ GPA (preferred)

3. Commitment to an academic yearlong internship (September 2010-June 2011;


approximately 5 hours/week)

Goals:

1. Acquire knowledge of UC system, governance, and issues.


2. Develop a commitment to principles of values-based leadership.
3. Ability to plan and implement programs of benefit to the University of California system.
4. Develop organizational and planning skills.
5. Learn to work with a core team.
6. Engender a collaborative bond with other teammates and interns.

We are offering internships with our Policy Directors, Media and Communications
Director, and Office Manager.

3. The Student-Regent is the students’ ally. However, the Board of Regents’ approval of the
32% fee increase has put the regents at odds with the student body. How do you envision
building a collaborative relationship between the Student-Regent and the UC students?
