KBD5000 SETUP AND CONFIGURATION

WITH CONTROLPOINT

KBD5000 CONFIGURATION AND OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS


To set up the KBD5000 to work with ControlPoint, perform the following steps:
1.) Plug in power and USB cable to the KBD5000
2.) Plug in USB cable from KBD5000 to the computer
*Windows virtually assigns a COM port and no windows configuration is required
Note: You must install ControlPoint 7.0.41 or higher.
Verifying your ControlPoint version
1.) Click on the Setup Icon on the top left
2.) Click on About.
*If you do not have at least 7.0.41 of ControlPoint or would like to download the latest version, please
contact Pelco Product Support at 1800-289-9100.
To get started, open ControlPoint from the shortcut on your desktop or from the start menu.
*If your sites are not auto-connect, then you will need to use your mouse to connect to your sites.

Your keyboard is capable or navigating you to different screens via hotkeys.


Click the CYAN o icon to bring up your live view
Click the Green ooo icon to bring up systems
Click the Red oooo icon to bring up the setup
Click Blue i to bring up the ControlPoint help.

Once in live view you can perform the following:


The 4 view buttons will toggle your live view between 1x1, 2x2, 3x3, and 4x4 views. All other
customer views must be performed with the mouse.

To manually call up cameras from KBD Keyboard


1.) Make sure you are in live view (You can do this by clicking the cyan o button on your KBD5000
keyboard.)
2.) Click on your desired view (1x1, 2x2, 3x3, and 4x4)
3.) Using the joystick, make sure you can toggle between the different view panels. (You should see
yellow border around your currently selected view panel.)
4.) To move joystick control over to the camera list, click (1 + cyan camera) button.
5.) Then using the joystick, toggle up and down to highlight your desired camera.
6.) To bring the camera up live, click the (view panel number + green monitor) button. (E.g. Once you
highlight your desired camera, and want to bring it over to the top left view panel, you simply press
1 + green monitor button)
7.) You should see your camera populate in the view panel you chose. To repeat these processes for
another camera simply start this section over at step 3.
*At this time, groups and tours will require you to use the mouse to be activated.
Once you have your views on the screen, you can also change cameras by using the menu selection
buttons. The left menu selection button will toggle the previous camera, while the right menu selection
button will toggle the next camera.

*This will not work unless you already have video being displayed on the screen.

View Panels Explained Use the following image to understand the view panel numbering scheme.

PTZ Actions
From live view, highlight your camera by either using the joystick or by clicking the view panel
number + green monitor button.
Once you have highlighted any camera that has already been configured for PTZ, you can activate PTZ
mode by clicking the button on top of the joystick.
To verify you are successfully in PTZ mode, you should see all your number key lights turn off.
To exit PTZ mode, simply click the joystick button again, and you will be able to perform all other
functions.

Twist Joystick (left and right) Zooms the camera in and out
*Focus and Iris controls do are not currently supported at this time

Search
There is a very low level search function that can be performed on the KBD5000 keyboard. From live
view, you can press the yellow oo key or press the red record key and it will bring you into a search of
the last 60 seconds.
You can pause and play this video with the pause/play button. Also you can return to live view by
pressing the live view key.
Another search cannot be initiated with the KBD5000 until the current search tab is closed using the
mouse. More detailed searching and exporting requires the mouse.
