Eligibility and Qualifications

- A non-Korean national whose parents are BOTH non-Korean nationals

Both

A Taiwanese applicant with one parent of Taiwanese nationality is classified as an international student for application purpose.
Anyone who has acquired foreign citizenship by changing his/her nationality is not eligible.
A Korean citizen who holds dual citizenships is not considered as foreigners.

International applicants must meet ALL of the following requirements:


A. A student who has completed, or is expected to complete primary and secondary education at the time of application
(Vocational schools are included).
If a student is educated in two or more countries, total education period should be 12 years or more.

B. A non-Korean national who satisfies language proficiency requirements specified below:


(1) English Track: Public Administration, Faculty of Hospitality, Tourism and Food Service Management, Computer

Korean track students with TOPIK Level 2 or 3 at the time of entrance should take After-school Korean Language Classes.
Korean track students must achieve Level 4 (Level 3 for Dance or Music major) or higher of TOPIK before graduation.

(3) Preliminary assessment: Those who do not meet the above language proficiency requirements can still apply for
admission. Once passed, they can be admitted upon satisfying the language proficiency requirement.
[Preliminary assessment]
- Those who do not meet the language proficiency requirements can still apply for admission and get selected based on their other
academic abilities.
- Successful applicants will receive a Letter of Preliminary Acceptance.
- In order for them to be admitted to Sejong University, they need to complete the online application process upon satisfying of the
language proficiency requirement again (choice of department cannot be changed). At this time, the application fee will be waived,
and the students will not be required to re-submit any of the documents they have already submitted.
- Once they are admitted and receive a Letter of Acceptance, they will enroll by paying the tuition fees.
- The Letter of Preliminary Acceptance will remain effective for a year starting from the date on which the application for preliminary
assessment was first submitted. The language proficiency requirements must be met and any subsequent online application must
be completed within this period.
- Students satisfying the language proficiency requirement should request for exemption of application fee after filling out the
application form by submitting Letter of Preliminary Acceptance and TOPIK transcript.
- Korean track applicants should study at the Center of International Education of Sejong University right after the announcement date
of admission decision till achieving required TOPIK scores (attendance certificate should be submitted).

International applicants must meet ALL of the following requirements:


A. Applicants who have completed 2 or more years of the coursework in a 4-year university or received a degree in a
2/3-year junior college (those who expect completion of course work or reception of degree before February 26,
2017 are also eligible.)
If you are enrolled in a 4-year university, you are eligible to apply in case you have earned more than 50% of the credits
required for graduation.
Graduates of Chinese school must submit academic verification stating that the diploma holder is able to continue their study in
senior years of undergraduate program for a Bachelor's degree.
Students who have enrolled to SJU are not eligible for transfer admission.

Admissions for both freshmen and transfer students require academic records on regular programs offered by educational institutions accredited under the education
laws of foreign countries (The following courses and exams do not qualify: language courses, university preparatory courses, continuing [lifelong] education courses,
adult university courses, correspondence courses, Internet courses, high school diploma equivalency exams in the U.S. and Canada (like GED), and the Higher
Education Self-taught Examination System of China [gaodengjiaoyu zixuekaoshi]).

and it will be included in evaluation.
Those who cannot submit the language proficiency test score
within the submission due date should apply for the admission as
"preliminary assessment".

If a freshman applicant is from one of the designated countries
(Note 1) or graduated from a high school in one of the designated
countries (Note 1), the graduation certificate should be verified by
either the Korean Embassy to the applicant's country/Embassy of the
applicant's country to Korea or Apostille.
If a transfer applicant is Chinese or currently enrolled in a
Chinese university, the applicant should submit graduation certificate
of high school and Verification report of China Education
Qualification.
If an applicant is from one of the designated countries (Note 1)
or graduated from a school in one of the designated countries (Note
1), the graduation certificate should be verified by either the Korean
Embassy to the applicant's country/Embassy of the applicant's
country to Korea or Apostille.
The number of credits awarded to each course should be
indicated in the transcript.

In relation to language proficiency test score, please read "VII. Important Notes for Applicants".
A graduate-to-be should submit final transcripts and graduation certificate right after graduation. Otherwise, the admission can be cancelled.
Any document that is not in Korean or English must be translated into Korean or English and notarization on translation is required.
Unless stated as "copy", all the above documents should be original. In case documents are not allowed for re-issuance or original documents are not
available, notarized copies can be acceptable.
Accepted students for preliminary assessments who satisfy the language proficiency requirement later should confirm list of required documents with
CISS before submission (Letter of Preliminary Acceptance, attendance certificate of Center of International Education of Sejong University, etc. will be
required.).

Screening Criteria
Admission decisions are made based on the candidates previous academic achievements, study plan and other specific
diploma and qualifications such as language proficiency. Study plan has some requirements and it should be filled as
instructed. Interviews, auditions, and/or additional documents may be required as dictated by the policy of the individual
college or department, and the individual college or department will directly contact the applicant if required.

1. Notes for Online Application


- The standard method for application is via the Undergraduate Admission for International Students banner on the
Sejong website. It is only compatible with 5.0 or higher version of Internet Explorer.
- The deadline for online application is 5:00PM, November 4 (Friday), 2016 (Korea local time). To apply successfully,
all relevant information must be entered, and the application fee must be paid in full, prior to this time.
- It is strongly recommended that you complete the online application as early as you can because the system might
become unstable or go down close to the deadline due to the rush of hits.
2. Notes for Submission of Required Documents
- After completing your online application, print out the application form and send your application packet to the
following address via registered mail or submit it in person.
The admissions staff reserves the right to require additional documents from the applicant, should there arise a
need to verify the authenticity of submitted materials.
- Your application packet must arrive at the CISS before 5:00PM, November 9 (Wednesday), 2016. In case of
submission by post, please post the documents at least a week before the deadline.
- All documents must be original except where specified otherwise. Where the original is not available, the copy
certified by the originating institution can be submitted. Any document that is not in Korean or English must be
accompanied by a notarized Korean or English translation.
- Applicants can check submission status or list of insufficient documents on the online application website
("Jinhakapply>My application>Printouts"). No individual notification will be made. If all the required documents are not
submitted during the designated period or submitted documents are incomplete or unsatisfactory, applicants will be
disqualified from the admissions.

Important Notes for Applicants


1. Applicants will take full responsibility for any disadvantages due to mistakes or omissions on the application.
Please be reminded that, in principle, any modification or cancellation will not be accepted after completing the
application.
2. Be sure to keep photocopies of all completed forms. Any documents and/or materials submitted with the
application become the property of SU and will not be returned to the applicant. If any of the submitted
documents are required for visa application, you should additionally prepare them.
3. Eligibility of freshman applicants who do not submit the language proficiency test score within the submission due
date will be automatically changed as "preliminary assessment". Transfer applicants who do not submit the
language proficiency test score within the due date will be disqualified for the admission.
4. If applicants acquire higher language proficiency test score after the submission due date, we will accept such
test score only when it is submitted before November 25, 2016 (11:00). Language proficiency test score submitted
after this date but before December 16, 2016 still can be used for scholarship and enrollment of preliminary
assessment applicants (e.g. a preliminary assessment applicant who submits language proficiency test score on
December 16, 2016 is eligible for enrollment in spring 2017.). If the test score was submitted by email, applicants
should confirm submission with CISS.
5. A detailed information of any individual admissions decision will not be disclosed
6. If any of the submitted materials contains false information, admission will be rescinded.
7. If a graduate-to-be fails to graduate prior to the beginning of a semester, admission will be cancelled. If a
graduate-to-be do not submit final transcripts and graduation certificate after graduation, admission will be
cancelled.
8. Be sure to understand that the University issues only the Certificate of Admissions for student visa (Type: D2)
application for the admitted students.
9. If an applicant applies from outside Korea and is admitted to the University but his/her application for a D-2
student visa is rejected by the Justice Ministry, the admission for the applicant will be cancelled.
10. Important notice will be provided by email only. Please write down your primary email address correctly in the
application form. Announcement of admission decision and following notices also will be posted the bulletin board
(http://eng.sejong.ac.kr).

Application Fee and Tuition

A. For withdrawal of application before the application due date, total application fee is refunded. Withdrawal of
application after the application due date is not allowed, and the application fee is not refundable unless any
of SUs acceptable reasons for a refund is satisfied.
B. Acceptable reasons for a refund: Any reason that is not attributable to the applicant or outside the applicants
control, including a natural disaster, the applicants hospitalization or injury from an accident and SUs mistake,
is considered acceptable.
In case that all or any of required documents are not submitted or an applicant is disqualified, the applicant will fail to the
admission and the application is not refundable.

The full scholarship will be rescinded if a student does not earn at least 15 credits or GPA of 3.5 in the previous semester, and
Sejong Int'l Scholarship-Outstanding Academic can be applied.
Sejong int'l Scholarship A~E will be applied based on the documents (Language proficiency test score, recommendation letter, etc.)
submitted by December 16, 2016.
Successful applicants who pass the preliminary assessment will be eligible for scholarships at the time of enrollment.
The scholarship will be suspended upon change of nationality.

Dormitory for International Students


Sejong University has a dormitory for international students with capacity of about 150 students. Application and
selection for dormitory residence is made on a semester (6-month) basis, and application usually starts a month before
the beginning of a semester. All rooms are for two, and dormitory fee for a semester (6-month) is approximately 1,200
USD. Details will be announced to the admitted students.

XI After-school Korean Language Classes


Sejong University has felt the need of more chances to study Korean language among English speaking students.
Therefore, we are operating free after-school Korean language classes since spring 2016. The aims of these classes are
improve writing and speaking ability of Korean language. Class opens twice a week for two hours, and details will be
provided later.
