Dear Mrs. Urquhart,
I am writing this letter in hopes of obtaining a job with the Calgary Catholic School District. I am proud
to say that I am a graduate of a Calgary Catholic High School and a soon to be graduate of Mount Royal
University. I am applying for an elementary, junior, or senior high teaching position that will allow me to use
my skills and abilities as a Humanities, ELL, or Physical Education teacher. I am a practicing Catholic at St.
James Church and my varied background and educational experiences will allow me to impact positively our
diverse student population in Calgary.
Currently I am an elementary generalist at Mount Royal University, but my coaching experiences and
interactions with children of all ages make me a suitable candidate for teaching at all levels. I was a member of
the Mount Royal Men's Basketball team for four years and during that time I developed many leadership skills.
In addition, my rich and diverse life experiences make me a very good role model for all children, especially
young immigrant children. I believe I can positively impact youth, as they will be able to see how I have
overcome many challenges and adversity. In addition to my passion for physical education and the humanities, I
am also very interested in teaching ELL (English Language Learning) at the high school level and humanities at
the elementary and junior high levels.
I had a wonderful experience as a student in the Calgary Catholic School District and it is my hope that I
can return to the same school district as a teacher to champion all students and to share what I have learned.
