ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
We express our heartiest gratitude and sincere thanks to our beloved
Principal Dr.S.ARIVAZHAGAN, M.E., Ph.D., and the Professor and Head of the
Department of Mechanical Engineering, Dr.P.NAGARAJ, M.E., Ph.D., for
allowing and providing us with all resources for doing this project successfully.
We express our deep sense of gratitude and heartfelt thanks to our guide
Dr.A.VASANTHANATHAN,

M.Tech,

Ph.D.,

Asst.

Professor

(Senior

Grade)/Mech. Dept. who has given his valuable thought and guided us with his full
support and interest in every possible way whenever we approached him.
We are indeed very much thankful to Mr.J.THANIKACHALAM,
M.Tech., Asst. Professor (Senior Grade)/Mech. Dept. for helping us to complete
our project at the right time.
We sincerely thank all the staff members and technicians of our Department,
our classmates and well-wishers for their encouragement and support during the
project.

ABSTRACT
The aim of our project is to make a Tapping (Hole making) machine for
Fibre Reinforced Plastic (FRP) pipe. The other methods employed to do this
tapping are Gas Flame Cutting & Laser cutting. The laser cutting is an expensive
process because production of laser is a tedious task. On the other hand, Gas Flame
Cutting creates Residual Stress on the cutting edges & thus making the edges more
brittle. This tapping machine overcomes all such difficulties and used for making
holes with wide range of sizes. Unlike conventional drilling machine, this machine
makes complete hole in a single pass. The machine is compact and makes hole
efficiently.
