If the welder is to be qualified on the

basis of PQR. Is his Identifying code.
Position of welding recorded on PQR.?
Yes

--A-Numbers cannot be correctly identified without Section II Part C of

the ASME Code.

--Preheat Temp is there but does not support the WPS, the PQR must be
within 100 o F of the WPS listed preheat for production which is only 60
o F.
The PQR was qualified with a preheat of 175 o F !
To fix this you could revise the WPS to a minimum preheat of 75 o
F(175 100 = 75 o F).
--Interpass Temp is not there, but we do not need it since it is a
Supplementary Essential.
-- Thickness of tensile specimen is 31mm(19+6x2) and thickness of
face and root bend specimen is 38mm as pe QW-462.3
--Procedure qualification thickness and performance qualification
thickness qualification range is different.
--For same F No materials we did not need new qualification of welder,
he can do welding for same F Nos.
--Pipe PQP can be used to make Plate WPS, Or Plate PQP can be used to
make Pipe WPS.

p21 to p26 aluminium

p51 to p53 titanium
p61 to p62 zirconium
if gorove weld with GTAW for p21-p26 & p51-p53 it can be RT for WPQ.
no rt for these only bend test
-- For D1.1 PQR separate qualification is required for 2G & 3G plate
positions i.e two separate PQRs will be required for 2G & 3G position.
-- PQR Impact test which required impact test the qualification min.
range for weld metal qualified will be different; the table 451.1 will not
apply instead QW-403.6 note will be applicable.
-- NO PWHT required for P1 material at any thickness, only pre heat is
required 90C as per revised edition of B31.3.
-- IF Impact required in PQR the position is essential variable, if the PQR
is on 5G it will not be applicable for 6G production welding, but 6G PQR
will be qualified for all positions production welds.
--The current variation allowed in WPS is +- 10% of the valves of PQR.
--Up to 10mm thk material of PQR the min thk range qualified for WPS is
1.5mm and for above 10mm thk material the min thk range qualified
for WPS is 5mm
