ania Sachdev, who has become a chess grandmaster at the age of 19, said at a recent interview
Im a girls are better than guys person.
I think girls do everything better than guys. I remember how Id
sit with my friends at cafes and sometimes there would be
guys playing chess. Id challenge them to a game and, of
course, they would accept, seeing I was a girl and by their
logic, dumb. But we always had the last laugh.
Would you say she was right? Or is this as absurd as saying that boys are always better than girls? Do write and let us
know and give us reasons for your opinion.

T
A garden in a jar
or terrarium

ou can easily make a miniature garden

with a clear glass or plastic container, a few
pebbles, a bit of garden soil and some small
plants. Get yourself a half-litre jar, wash it thoroughly and dry it in the sun. Depending on the
shape of the jar, you might want to lay it on the side, so that you have more garden space.
Put about 2 cm of clean pebbles or coarse sand at the bottom of the terrarium. Next, add
about 3 cm of garden soil. If the soil seem to be clayey, mix in some sand. Now you can arrange
the plants to make an attractive garden. Use plants that fit the container and leave a little space
for them to grow. Be sure that the roots are placed down in the soil. If you like, you can place
some pretty stones between the plants.
Finally, add just enough water to moisten the soil and place a lid on the container (or make a
cover with a piece of plastic and a rubber band). Keep your terrarium in good light but not in direct sunlight. If a lot of moisture collects on the sides, you may need to remove the cover to let some of the
water vapour escape. When the
moisture balance is just right, you
will be able to keep the cover on
and your garden will probably
grow for a long time without
adding any water.
