1.

TECHNICAL DETAILS

This is a versatile microcontroller based


PID controller with a very high
performance to price ratio. The features
offered in this product are better than
any other controller available in similar
price range.
The instrument is made in 96x96x200
mm size with standard cutout of
92x92 mm. Front is sealed membrane
type to withstand dusty environment.
On back plate PCB soldered 35 deg.
angled terminals of very good quality
are used.
The
programming,
calibration
and
operation of the instrument is by five
simple keys with two independent
displays for set point and process
variable. Set point display is kept 0.39"
to differentiate it from process variable
display. Status of control/alarm relays,
Auto/Manual mode, Local/Remote Set
point and receive/ transmit status in
case of serial communication
are
displayed by 3 mm red LEDs. The
operation of the instrument is menu
driven
with
user
understandable
prompts. Various options are protected
by back plate DIP switch to avoid
unwanted access. Provision for data
lock
out
is
kept
for
protecting
programmed data.
The product is made to accept all 7
standard thermocouple inputs, PT100
RTD, 4 -20 mA and 0-5 Vdc inputs. It is
available with field selectable input. The
type of input can be changed in field
itself. The calibration of the unit is done
without trimpots. The unit can be
calibrated in installed condition itself by
front panel keys at any given point i.e.
user need not feed a fixed signal. All
thermocouples and RTD inputs are
linearized for 0.1% accuracy through out
range. RTD input comes with 0.1 degree
indication for entire range.

Remote setpoint input is given as a


standard feature. Type of remote input
(4-20mA or 0-20mA) and its scaling
(zero, span) is programmable.
Heat relay and Forward / Reverse relay
output with position feedback comes as
standard.
Isolated
voltage/current
output or Thyristor fast cycle/slow cycle
output is optional.24V/30mA transmitter
power supply given as standard.
Two or three
alarm setpoints (with
individual
hysteresis)
with
relay
configurable as absolute/deviation/band,
control/alarm and on below/on above
setpoint comes as standard. This entire
configuration can be done on line
without opening the unit.
Provision for zero and span setting is
made to restrict the range of usage and
programming. This restricts accidental
wrong setting of setpoint beyond the
range of interest. Outside this range the
unit will indicate process variable as
'OVER' for some abnormal condition.
This zero and span setting is used for
linear inputs for setting the range
between -1999 to 9999 counts.

5. USER GUIDE
5.1 INTRODUCTION
This is a single chip microcontroller
based PID controller designed for
universal input type. Instrument is
operated by five user friendly keys.
These keys are used for configuration,
operation, programming and calibration.
There are four levels of protections in
the instrument. These four levels decide
access to setpoints (operator level),
access to setpoints & control parameters
(supervisor level), configuration and
calibration.
The manual covers all aspects of
operation of the instrument. Please read
instructions carefully before altering any
programming
or
configuration
information.
5.2 OPERATION
POWER SUPPLY
Before
connecting
power
to the
instrument ensure
that
you are
connecting right input voltage to right

terminal. The instrument is having


Jumper selection on Back plate for both
110V AC and 230V AC . On application
of proper power the instrument will
display input type for two seconds.
Now, if the input signal is connected, it
will display value of input in PV window,
power delivered at present in O/P
window and setpoint in SV display along
with appropriate mode LED.
5.3 KEY BOARD
There are five keys for operation of the
instrument.
For understanding the
operation first let us see the operation of
keys.
SET:
This key is used to select desired
parameter
in
verify,
program
or
configuration modes. On first press of
this key, it will enter appropriate mode
of operation with first parameter
displayed. After the last parameter the
key will bring the instrument in the run
mode.
ENTER:
This key is used to enter the value of the
selected parameter. After setting the
data to proper value, if ENTER key is
pressed, the data will be permanently
stored in non-volatile memory. On
pressing of ENTER key, the decimal
point on last digit and flashing of one
particular digit disappears to indicate
that data is entered. Now, the data
change is not allowed until ENTER key is
pressed once again. On pressing of
ENTER key once again, one particular
digit will start flashing and decimal point
on last digit will glow and allow change
in the data.
DIGIT SHIFT or A/M KEY:
This key is used to change Auto mode to
Manual mode or Manual mode to Auto
mode in RUN mode.
This key adds one very good feature in
the product. This key will shift the
flashing digit and allow change in that
particular
flashing
digit
by
increment/decrement keys, so there is
fast change in data instead of normal

increment/decrement keys. e.g. for


changing from 1000 to 2000, increment
key needs to be pressed once after
selecting thousands digit by digit shift
key.
INCREMENT:
This key will increment the selected
parameter value by one count in
program or configuration mode if the
units digit is flashing. Depending upon
the flashing digit parameter value can be
incremented by 10 counts, 100 counts
and 1000 counts upto the maximum
value of that particular parameter.
DECREMENT:
This key will decrement the selected
parameter value by one count in
program or configuration mode if the
units digit is flashing. Depending upon
the flashing digit parameter value can be
decremented by 10 counts, 100 counts
and 1000 counts upto the minimum
value of that particular parameter.
NOTE:
For
optimum
Instrument
performance follow the points listed
below.
SUPPLY VOLTAGE:
Supply voltage should be given
through a good isolation transformer.
This being a microprocessor based
instrument, a massive voltage spike can
damage it. A good isolation transformer
shields the instrument from such voltage
spikes
and
surges.
All
supply
connections to final control devices
such as contactors, solenoids etc. must
be taken directly from the supply and
not from the supply terminals of the
instrument.
EARTHING:
An effective earth is mandatory
for the instrument. Take separate earth
wires for separate instruments, avoid
looping of earth wires.
LAYOUT:
All low level input and output
such as t/c, rtd and control signal wires
must be kept separate from supply and
relay output cabling.

6. MODES OF OPERATION

There are four modes of operation for


the unit.
1. Run mode
2. Verify mode
3. Program mode
4. Configuration mode
6.1-RUN MODE:
This is normal mode of display. From
other modes of operations, display falls
back to this mode if no key is pressed
for 20 seconds.
In RUN MODE there are two operation
modes.
(A) AUTO MODE
(B) MANUAL MODE
(A) AUTO MODE: By Pressing A/M key
in Manual mode in RUN MODE
instrument will come in Auto Run mode.
In this mode output power will be
calculated according to the control
parameters
settings,
i.e.
Pb
H
(Proportional Band), tI (Integral time),
td (Derivative time) and other batch
parameters. In this mode PV display will
show value of i/p signal, SV display will
show the setpoint(Local/Remote) and
O/P display will show the output power
with 5% resolution ( OR valve position
in case of position proportional output.)
Output power can be seen with 1%
resolution by keeping the Increment key
in pressed condition.
(B) MANUAL MODE By Pressing A/M
key in Auto mode in RUN MODE
instrument will come in Manual Run
mode. In this mode PID action will be
bypassed and user can set the value of
output power with 1% resolution by
increment/decrement keys. For the
indication of Manual mode MAN LED will
glow. In this mode PV display will show
value of i/p signal, For o/p type VPNA &
VPFB SV display will show setpoint and
for other o/p type SV display will show
the output power with 1% resolution
and O/P display will show the output
power with 5% resolution.

Here AUTO MANUAL mode change


over is Bump less. I.e. while entering in
MANUAL mode instrument will start with
the last power value in AUTO mode and
vice versa.
In case of Remote Setpoint input, REM
LED will glow.
6.2- VERIFY MODE:
This mode is used for checking main
setpoint, two or Three alarm set points
with individual hysteresis and control
parameters. In this mode data can be
seen but can not be altered. This mode
can be entered by pressing set key in
run mode, with data lock DIP (DIP 4) at
back in ON condition. On pressing of set
key first time, it will display first prompt.
On subsequent press of set key,
parameters are displayed in following
sequence.
1. rL NO Selection for Aux Relay.
2. SP
- Main setpoint.
3. Pb H - Proportional Band (Heat).
4. tI
- Integral time in second.
5. td
- Derivative time in second.
6. tC H - Heat cycle time in second.
7. Pb C - Proportional Band (Cool).
(If Heat/Cool o/p type selected)
8. tC C - Cool cycle time in second.
(If Heat/Cool o/p type selected)
9. db
- Dead band
(If Heat/Cool o/p type selected)
10. A1SP - Auxiliary Setpoint 1.
11. HYS1 - Hysteresis for first aux.

The parameter is displayed in SV window


and prompt is displayed in PV window.
After the last parameter display will fall
back to normal run mode display. If no
key is pressed for 20 seconds, unit will
exit from this mode and enter into
normal run mode.
If the instrument is set in Operator level
access mode then in the verify mode
also limited parameters can be verified.
Data access level (Supervisor/Operator)
is explained in detail during PROGRAM
Mode.
6.3- PROGRAM MODE:
This mode is used for programming the
different parameters. In this mode
programmed data can be checked and
re-programmed. To enter into this mode
data lock DIP (DIP 4) at back should be
in off condition (up position) and the
DIP1 switch at back should also be in off
condition (up position). In Program
mode data access level is programmable
for supervisor level and operator level.
If DIP2 is in on condition (down
position) then the program mode will be
in supervisor level program mode. In
supervisor level all parameters can be
programmed. If DIP2 is in off condition,
the program mode will be in the
operator level program mode. In
operator
level
main
setpoint,
auto/manual mode and two aux.
setpoints can be programmed. Press SET
key and it will display the first prompt.
The parameter is displayed in SV window
and prompt is displayed in PV window.
In SV display the last decimal point will
be glowing and one particular digit will
be flashing to indicate that the
parameter value can be changed. By
pressing DIGIT SHIFT and INCR / DECR
keys the parameter value can be
changed as desired. Then press ENTER
key for storing the value permanently.
On pressing of ENTER key the decimal
point on last digit and flashing of
particular digit will be off to indicate that
value is entered. Now this value can not

be changed until the ENTER key is


pressed once again or next parameter is
selected. On pressing of SET key other
parameters in sequence are selected and
they can be changed by the same
procedure.
The parameters in sequence are:
1. rL NO Selection for Aux Relay.

3. Pb H - Proportional Band (Heat).
4. tI
- Integral time in second.
5. td
- Derivative time in second.
6. tC H - Heat cycle time in second.

After the last parameter, the display will
go back to normal run mode. If no key
is pressed for 20 seconds, the display
will fall back to normal run mode.
6.3.1 Description of Control
parameters
AUXILIARY RELAY (rL NO):
If user select No 2 option , there will be
2 relay (Aux relay2 & Aux relay3)for use
as Auxiliary relay. Now relay 1 will used
in heat cool o/p option & valve position
feedback o/p option.

If user select No 3 option, there will be 3
relay (Aux relay 1 ,Aux relay2 & Aux
relay3) for use as Auxiliary relay. now,
user cant select Heat Cool & Valve
position feedback o/p option.
NOTE: user must set Aux relay No.
parameter & then set output type in
configuration mode.
Proportional Band (Pb H): The range
of temperature over which power is
adjusted from 0% to 100% is called the
PROPORTIONAL
BAND.
Type
of
Proportional
Band
is
front
panel
configurable in conf. mode as Absolute
in deg. centigrade, as percentage of setpoint, or as percentage of instrument
span. Pband is centered about the
setpoint. e.g. Suppose the setpoint is
100 and Pband (Absolute type) is 10
then the power at 95 is 100% and at
105 it is 0%. Power at the setpoint is
50%.
Proportional
Band
is
programmable from 0 to 400. If the
proportional band setting is zero, the
result would be an ON-OFF controller.
Integral time(tI): The Integral time
constant is defined as the time interval
in which the part of the output signal
due to the integral action increases by
an amount equal to the part of the
output signal due to the proportional
action,
when
the
deviation
is
unchanging. Integral time is adjustable
from 0 to 1800 second.
Derivative time(td): The derivative
time constant is defined as the time
interval in which the part of the output
signal
due to proportional action,
increases by an amount equal to the
part of the output signal due to
derivative action, when the deviation is
changing at a constant rate. Derivative
time is adjustable from 0 to 600 second.
NOTE: Setting integral or Derivative to
zero cuts off the contribution of that
terms.
Cycle time (tC H): This parameter is
applicable in heat and heat/cool relay
type output option. It is adjustable from
0 to 300 second. The cycle time is equal

to the ON time of relay + OFF time of


relay.
6.4-CONFIGURATION MODE
This mode is useful for changing basic
configuration of the unit. To enter into
this mode keep data lock DIP (DIP4) in
off condition and turn on DIP1 switch
(down position) at back panel. Now, if
SET key is pressed the unit will enter
into configuration mode and will display
input type as first parameter in
configuration mode. These parameters
can be changed by increment, decrement, digit shift and enter keys as
described earlier. User can select
parameter to be programmed, by SET
key.
In this mode for some parameter its
value is indicated by YES/NO, i.e. to
enable that feature you have to select
YES by YES marked key (Increment
key) and then press ENTER key. Remaining other parameters have user
understandable prompts or absolute
values.
The parameters which can be changed
by this mode are described below in
sequence in which they are displayed.
First we will see the meaning of various
prompts displayed.

6.4.1 INPUT TYPE


Type of input is displayed as prompt for
input type. The types of inputs available
in order along with the display prompt
are as follows:

User can select any type of input from


this table by increment or decrement
keys. For changing input type code alone
is not sufficient, you need to change DIP
switch settings on signal conditioner
card. This DIP (8 way Piano type) is
easily accessible; it is on right side of
the unit when the instrument is
uncovered. DIP switch positions for
various types are listed below. Turn on
(up position) the specified positions with
other switches in off condition.

NC potential free relay contacts are

back plate. The relay cycles ON + OFF,
once in the cycle time (tC H) set. The
relay is energies when power is to be
delivered to the system. The ON duty
cycle increases proportionately as more
power is to be delivered to the system,
e.g. if the cycle time setting is 60
seconds and 50% power is to be
delivered, then relay ON + OFF will
be 30 secs. + 30 secs. The relay
contacts are rated for 2A / 230V A.C.

Heat/Cool output: PID 5030 has the
ability to provide two outputs for
heat/cool control situation. For this in
PROG MODE Aux relay will be
selected 2 No.
In Heat-cool relay
output type there are 2 SPDT(C, NO,
NC) contacts provided at HT/FR and
CL/RV terminals on backplate. Which is
heat and which is cool, is changed by
setting Reverse/Direct (rEv/dir) control
action polarity in configuration mode.
The relay contacts are rated for 2A/230V
A.C.
In heat-cool output type there are three
additional parameters, Pband cool (Pb
C), Cool cycle time (tC C) and Dead
Band (db) to be programmed by the
user. In normal operation the output
varies linearly between 0% to 100%
across the proportional band (Pb H).
Heat-cool operation means that the
output is divided into two separate
sections of heat control action and cool
control action. e.g. Pband heat(Pb H) is
set at 100(absolute) and the setpoint is
set at 500. This proportional band is
taken at both side of the setpoint (rather
then distributing pband across the
setpoint, because we are taking this
pband as heat pband) for output power
calculation. So here output power is
100% at 400 PV and 0% at 600 PV
(When control action polarity is reverse).
With the Pband cool (Pb C) also set at
100 and dead band is 0% then the
heating output varies from 100% to 0%
across the 100% to 50% region of the
output power and cooling output varies
from 0% to 100% across the 50% to
0% region of output power. The ON duty
cycle of the heat relay and the cool relay
depends upon the heat cycle time and
cool cycle time setting. So here 400PV
to 500PV is the Heat band of 100
(according to Pb H setting ) across which
heat control action varies linearly
between 100% to 0% and 500PV to
600PV is the cool band of 100 (according
to Pb C setting ) across which cool
control action varies linearly between
0% to 100%. When cool pband is set
between 0 to pband heat, cool control
action will varies linearly between 0% to
100% across the cool pband. But if cool

pband is set at 200 then the cool control


output is 50% at full cooling.
Dead band control decides when the cool
control action starts. Here the dead band
(db) range is from -50% to +50%.
When deadband set to 0% the cooling
commences, when heating is at zero i.e.
no dead band. A positive value of dead
band means heat band and cool band
are separated and in the region of
deadband, both heat and cool control
action are stop.
Valve positioner o/p with feedback:
This output is used to regulate liquid or
gas flow via a motorized valve with
positional feedback potentiometer. For
this in PROG MODE Aux relay will be
selected 2 No. The motor should be
capable of being driven in either
direction between its two end stops to
open or close the valve. Power is only
applied to either the forward or reverse
winding when the valve position is to be
changed; otherwise the motor and the
valve remain at their previous position.
2 SPDT(C, NO, NC) contacts
are
provided at HT/FR and CL/RV relay
terminals on back plate. The relay
contacts are rated for 2A/230V A.C. The
cycle time is fixed 10 seconds in this o/p
option. The feedback power (valve
position) is displayed on the Bargraph.
Flashing of bar indicates the OPEN
condition at feedback potentiometer.
The calculated power can be seen by
pressing the Increment key in run mode.
The feedback potentiometer is to be
connected across OPEN, WIPER & CLOSE
terminals at back plate. It is important
to connect the motor feedback terminals
in the correct relative phase; otherwise
the motor will drive in the wrong
direction and/or only drive fully open or
fully closed.
To
check
the
position
feedback
connections, drive the valve fully closed
and with multimeter check that there is
0 volt D.C. between WIPER and CLOSE
terminals. Similarly with the valve fully
open check that there is 1 volt D.C. at
same.

To check the motor connections,


increase the setpoint to much larger
value than the actual temperature (PV)
and check that the valve opens, if not
reverse the motor connections.
When output type is selected as vPFb
(i.e. valve positioner with feedback),
user will get the forward/reverse relay
action according to the difference
between the calculated power (inside the
PID) and feedback power (i.e. valve
position). Time period is fixed internally
at 10 seconds. In configuration mode
(DIP 1 should be on at backplate), there
is a duty cycle programming prompt
(dUtY), which is programmable from 0%
to 100%. When this dUtY parameter is
set at 0% then the forward/reverse
relay action will follow the internally
calculated ON time and OFF time. But In
case of higher valve travel time user can
program the duty cycle (duty cycle
means

time/one
cycle
time)
accordingly. For example suppose the
duty cycle is set at 60%, then the relay
will be on for 6 seconds out of its 10
second cycle time. This duty cycle
parameter is applicable for both the
forward and reverse relay. Forward or

An isolated D.C. output is provided

The type of Proportional band is
programmable from front, when the
instrument is online. Proportional band
can be configured as `Abs'(Absolute in
degree centigrade), as `SP'(percentage
of setpoint), and as `SPAN'(percentage
of instrument span).
6.4.5 ZERO & SPAN
These settings are for specifying
minimum and maximum range of
operation. Although full sensor input
range is supported, user can select a
particular range of operation. The
setpoint can not be set below zero
setting and above the span setting. The
reading will display OvEr when the input
is below zero setting by 5% or above the
span setting by 5%. This 5% is
calculated for the difference of zero and
span settings. Extreme limits for
thermocouple and RTD types for the
setting are sensor limits.
Zero and span setting are used for
selecting range for linear inputs. This
allows to select any value between 1999 to 9999 for the range of the linear
input. This range can be changed any

6.4.6 REMOTE SETPOINT INPUT

On next press of SET key rINP (remote


i/p type) prompt will come and user
should select the proper type (4-20mA
or 0-20mA) of remote i/p using
increment or decrement key.
`rSPZ' and `rSPS' are used to scale
remote setpoint. e.g. if k t/c and
remote i/p type is 4-20mA and if remote
zero is 0 and remote span is 1200 then
at 4mA remote i/p, setpoint will be 0
and at 20mA remote i/p, setpoint will
be 1200.
After the remote i/p feature is enabled in
conf. mode user should configure the
setpoint as local or Remote in Program
mode.
If remote i/p feature is disabled in conf.
mode, then there will not be any remote
i/p related prompt in Conf. mode, in
Program mode or in Calibration mode.

Setpoint and Hysteresis effect :
For aux. setpoints selection, there are
three different options which can be
selected for a particular aux. setpoint.
a. On above setpoint or on below
setpoint - If user selects on above
setpoint option, the relay will be
energized, when the process variable
is more than set variable. In case of on
below setpoint operation of relay action
is reverse.
b. Control or alarm setpoint - In case of
control setpoint, the hysteresis effect is
different from alarm type. In case of
alarm setpoint, the relay can be
acknowledged on pressing of ENTER key
in run mode. So, this selection should be
done carefully according to application.

c. Absolute, deviation or band setpoint Absolute means absolute value whatever
it is set for aux. setpoint. In case of
deviation setpoint, it is added to the
main setpoint (local/remote) to derive
the actual setpoint. In case of band
setpoint main setpoint is taken as a

distributed both side of main setpoint
equally.
Now, let us see an example to illustrate
the effect of hysteresis setting on relay
operation. For control setpoint and
alarm setpoint, the effect of hysteresis
is little different so we will consider each
case separately.
Suppose you have selected a setpoint of
200 and hysteresis of 5. Also the
setting is for control type and on below
setpoint. So, in this case the hysteresis
effect is applicable while turning ON
the relay. The relay will turn off exactly
at 200, after being turned on. But, it
will not turn on once again until temperature falls below 200 - 5 = 195. This
provides a band of 5 around the
setpoint. In case of on above setpoint
type, the operation will be reverse.
Now suppose you have kept same
setpoint of 200 and hysteresis of 5 with
setpoint type as alarm and on below
setpoint. In this case the hysteresis
effect will be applicable while turning
OFF the relay. The relay will turn ON
when the process value goes below 200.
But it will not turn OFF until the
temperature goes beyond 200 + 5 =
205. This provides a band of 5 around
the setpoint. In case of on above
setpoint type, the operation will be
reverse.

6.4.10 DECIMAL POINT POSITION


This decides the decimal point position
for linear inputs (4-20 mA and voltage
inputs ). For other input types it will not
come in conf. mode menu and will not
have any effect. Decimal point position
can be programmed from 0 to 3.
Position of 0 means no decimal point.
Any non-zero number puts decimal point
after that digit. For example if decimal
point position is set to 2 and input
reading is 1000, it will be displayed as
10.00. Make sure to put correct decimal
point for linear inputs.

6.4.11 DUTY CYCLE(dUtY)


This prompt will come in case of valve
positioner with feedback and without
feedback. In case of valve positioner
with feedback, duty cycle is used to set
the on time of relays, out of cycle time
of 10 seconds. When duty parameter is
set
to
zero,
on/off
action
of
forward/reverse relays will be decided by
internal calculation.

calibrated without
opening
it and
without
adjusting
trimpots.
The
calibration data has got two level
protection. For protecting it CAL enable
DIP switch at back called DIP3 should
be in OFF position ( up position ) and
data lock DIP4 in on condition(down
position). User can enter calibration
mode by pressing increment key and
decrement key simultaneously. Here
combination of two key is just like
hidden key to enter into calibration
mode. This is
kept
to prevent
unauthorized change in calibration data.
With DIP3 switch ON and data lock DIP4
off, press increment and decrement key
simultaneously to enter into calibration
mode. The display will show prompt in
SV window and actual reading in PV
window. This is exactly reverse of other
modes where prompt is in PV window.
The value is displayed in PV window as it
represents actual process value instead
of a setting. Once you enter into
calibration mode then you can access
calibration menu by SET key. The
meaning of prompts is as follows :

The calibration method is very simple.
The calibration can be done at any
point selected by user. Suppose you
want to do zero setting. Feed input
corresponding to zero and say it displays 5 instead of 0. Just press
decrement key five times to make it zero
and press ENTER key. The zero
calibration is done. Same thing is for
span
calibration.
Feed

corresponding to span value and say it
displays 1295 instead of 1300. Just
press increment key five times and press
ENTER key. The span calibration is
done. You may have to do it in
iterations, if you are not calibrating at
actual zero and span of range. So, try
to calibrate near zero and span of the
input range. For example for thermocouple types calibrate with input shorted
for zero and calibrate with near full
scale value for span. This will give best
linearity.
For thermocouple types calibration of
ambient is separately provided. First do
ambient calibration and then zero and
span setting as both are getting affected
by
ambient
reading.
Ambient
temperature is displayed in 0.1 Deg
resolution. Bring ambient value to
required temperature by INCR or DECR
keys and press ENTER key to make it
permanent.
In ambient calibration there is one more
facility. Suppose the ambient sensor
on backplate of the unit has failed or

the signal conditioner for ambient has
failed. In this case, the software
provides
facility
for
manual
compensation. This compensation is
by default 30.0 deg. This can be
changed to desired value in calibration
mode.
Calibration for the remote setpoint i/p is
similar
to
the
process
variable
calibration. For remote zero calibration
feed the 0mA or 4mA depends upon the
remote i/p type and calibrate the
remote setpoint zero at the remote zero
value set in the conf. mode. Similarly
feed the 20mA and calibrate the remote
setpoint span at the remote span value
set in the conf. mode.
In the Calibration of the valve position,
user can not increment or decrement the
value in the PV display. The value
indicated in the PV display is mV
measured across WIPER and CLOSE
terminals.
By
changing the valve
position user decides the zero of valve
position and then just press the ENTER
key. Now at this valve position,
feedback power will be 0% . Similarly
user decides the span (maximum limit
upto which valve should open) of valve
position and press the ENTER key. Now
at this valve position, feedback power
will be 100%. Here zero and span of
valveposition can be calibrated upto
0.1V maximum and 0.6V minimum
respectively.(i.e. allowed range for zero
is upto maximum 10% and that for
span is minimum 60% respectively.)
For current/voltage output calibration
PV display will indicate frequency (
which one is internally generated
according to output power ). First set
the output power to 0% and sense the
control o/p (current/voltage) and with
increment/decrement of frequency at
CONZ prompt set the control o/p at
zero value (either at 0V D.C. or at 4 mA
D.C. depending upon the control output
type ) and press the ENTER key. This is
the zero calibration of current/voltage
output. Similarly set the output power
to 100% and at CONS prompt set the
control o/p at span value (either at 5V

CRC calculation:
The CRC field checks the contents of the
entire message. It is applied regardless
of any parity check method used for the
individual characters of the message.
The CRC value is calculated by the
transmitting device, which appends the
CRC to the message. The receiving
device recalculates a CRC during receipt
of the message, and compares the
calculated value to the actual value it
received in the CRC field. If the two
values are not equal, an error results.
The CRC is started by first pre loading a
16-bit register to all 1's. Then a process
begins of applying successive eight-bit
bytes of the message to the current
contents of the register. Only the eight
bits of data in each character are used
for generating the CRC. Start and stop
bits, and the parity bit, do not apply to
the CRC. During generation of the CRC,
each eight-bit character is exclusive
